@@richardheinz Yes, it's half a century old but still feels fresh and dynamic. I once found this ambitious double album in a secondhand records store, seemed a fairly good copy and I was familiar with Vangelis' music, but for some reason I didn't decide to buy the album

Fun fact - Vangelis Papathanassiou the keyboard player for Aphrodites child is the guy who wrote chariots of fire. He's also composed scores for other films such as blade runner.
@@cobra5088 Yes, that was a big surprise for me, too. I knew him from his collaboration with Jon Anderson of Yes. Hearing Aphodite´s Child I realize they have a quite similiar background!

They used to play this on Bleaker Street from Little Rock Arkansas, the DJ's did their own programming, this was 1972 through 1975 , radio was great back then, does anyone remember Joel Gracie from KOKE FM in Austin Texas, his sign off. was stay off your feet, drink plenty of water, and come by when you can

Man, this is AMAZING! I knew both Vangelis and Demis Roussos, and I even did know that they had a band together, but, I never thougth they would sound like this. This is great! Thank you for sharing!

It was called Aphrodite’s child
Τhis is indeed a phenomenal album by a band** of musicians who if they had carried on, following this path, who knows what other masterpieces might have given us. Unfortunately, this was a vision only Vangelis had. Demis Roussos was displeased with his role because he was aiming for stardom as a mainstream hit singer and the album was largely instrumental and he didn't even sing all the actual songs in it, so he left and the band split up.
**The two previous Aphrodite's Child albums plus a bunch of non-album singles, had very little to do with 666 which was assisted by some fine guest musicians and by the lyricist Kostas Ferris whose significant role in the creation of this extraordinary album, we tend to forget.
