What is SEALCOATING and why should I do it?
1. Sealcoating protects and prolongs the life expectancy of asphalt pavement by filling surface damage and providing a protective layer to keep out damaging UV rays, vehicle fluids, and water.
2. The low cost of regular sealcoating can save you money in the long run. A properly maintained and sealed asphalt surface has an extended lifetime and reduces long-term repair costs.
3. With exposure to the elements, asphalt pavement over time becomes faded in appearance. A fresh sealcoat application enhances the appearance of asphalt, making it look and wear like new.
4. Sealcoating is typically done using one of two application methods: spray or squeegee/brush.
5. Sealcoating accelerates the melting process of snow and ice on pavement surfaces. This helps to protect against water penetration, rain, frost and snow damage.
6. To correctly complete the sealcoating process, the air and pavement temperature is recommended to be at least 55 degrees Fahrenheit for the duration of the application and for eight hours following the application.
7. Prior to pavement sealing, the asphalt surface should be cleared of all dirt and debris. In addition, minor repairs, like potholes and cracks, should be filled and vehicle fluids, like oil, should be properly removed.

That was the way we used to do it but we also just use 5-gallon buckets and carry it from the truck

what do you guys use for cracks? is there something that actually blends in with the seal coat??
We have a peanut butter like crack patch that we use for minor cracks, and use hot tar for big ones. Nothing really "blends in" but it will help hide them in the short term.

No. Theres a process we have called "smoothing" where we take out the footprints brush marks. In the video Im editing now, this will be visible. I hope to have it out by this weekend.
It does not matter if you are going to use a similar product in your house or garage or not, because the hypnotic result of the video is the same.

What kind of liquid are you applying?
Tarconite mixed with water and sand.
So you don't spray at all right? Bc I do see the way you guys lay it down looks to be nice and thick vs spraying a thin quick layer.
We only spray large parking lots. All driveways are brushed by hand.
