- Goethe's beautiful aria in the operetta "Friederike" by Franz Lehár, superbly performed by the great Austrian tenor Adolf Dallapozza. Posted on his 83rd birthday (b. 14.03.1940).

This is a wonderful video! May I ask where it is from? Was there a complete film version of "Friederike?"
They only filmed a few scenes from the operetta.

He sang a duet with Renate Holm. Although Renate Holm is my favourite, I felt that she was too old at that time for the role of Friederike (she was 40, while Dallapozza was 31). I agree that Dallapozza was superb here, and it's a pity that he is so underrated and unknown today. He performed a lot for German TV in the 1970s. Actually I think he was the best operetta tenor in the 1970s (the best tenors in the 1960s - Fritz Wunderlich, Rudolf Christ, Waldemar Kmentt, Heinz Hoppe, Peter Minich et al., had died/retired/declined by then). He performed in complete operetta films such as Madame Pompadour, Der letzte Walzer, Zigeunerliebe, as well as selected scenes from Der Zigeunerprimas, Frasquita, Friederike and Kaiserin Josephine. He also sang Robert Stolz Lieder with Renate Holm.
I have all of the above videos, but have no intention of uploading them to CZcams, because there are very very few people who appreciate these operetta gems. Besides, I don't have much time for doing this non-profitable and almost thankless job, and must also be careful regarding copyright issues.
