- A discussion about Carl Jung's views on astrology, as well as his life and work in general, with astrologers Safron Rossi and Chris Brennan.
Saffron is the author of the book Jung on Astrology, which explores Jung’s thoughts on astrology by providing excepts from his collected works where he talked about the subject at different points in his life.
We begin the discussion by talking about some notable concepts that Jung contributed to the field of psychology, before moving on to a discussion about the important role that he played in influencing the development of psychological astrology in the 20th.
During the course of the episode we discuss what Jung's views on astrology were, as well as how he conceptualized it as a symbolic language of archetypes.
This is an audio-only re-released of episode 141 of The Astrology Podcast, which was originally released on the podcast website on January 29, 2018 under the title Carl Jung’s Views and Influence on Modern Astrology:

Love this topic and Brilliantly expressed ❤thank you ❤
This is an audio-only re-release of an old episode from 2018 from before I started doing video. So it is just the audio, but it was such a good episode that I wanted to release it here on CZcams for people who haven't listened to it yet.
Right Right ok I will go back listen too it Your 2022 2023 look heads were so accurate I hooked Really enjoy your work!!!
Thank you deeply 4 this ❤
Namaste Chris, Thank you so much for bringing this amazing episode back from the archives. Interesting to say it's with what is occurring in my life currently. Am dumb founded . Please invite this amazing woman back and some more follow up with other mythos and Jung psychologic analyzers thank you again.
Yes, it is truly appreciated. I love how Safron is so deeply profound in her ideas and understanding that she explains in beautiful wording.
As a huge fan of Jung and a geek when it comes to both astrology and psychoanalysis, this video is a massive treat. Thank you Chris for always coming up with the most innovative subjects to discuss, keep going! ✨
Look up a IChing lecture, Carl Jung got the shadow idea from there
Totally the same!❤
As a person who swims between academic and astrological environments, lenses, and discourses, I really appreciate Dr. Rossi’s perspective. I’m about to teach intro to myth again, and now I want to assign this episode!
i'm currently in a 'philosophical' crisis on the practice of modern western astrology, so this one will be gooood. thank you!
Great Chris Brennan! Both Jung and Roberto Assagioli were Astrologers and used it. You should have a talk with Mark Jones that would be a Masterpiece you two together💝
Light Energies 🌟
I've just started to listen but I already have to say that it is amazing that you make episodes about intersecting fields of astrology and psychology.
Astrology is so underestimated by psychologists and so is psychology by astrologists. The power of combining these twoin order to understand human psyche is beyond words.
I just bought the digital (kindle) copy of Goddesses: Mysteries of the Divine Feminine (Campbell, edited by.. ^^^^) Digital is easier with bookmarks and searches. Goddess number is 3, but 9. (Why I wanted to re-read it, I knew I didn’t remember it completely) Example: I’m reading a book on The Morrigan which is 3 goddess sisters who represent a trinity that equals 9. They’re like Voltron. The Morrigan fit an archetype for Pluto extremely well, actually. A modern myth related: The Mothman of Point Pleasant fits the archetype. Not in the movie but in another book, the native myth of the mounds in the US (the serpent mound is by point pleasant) is they were made by small albino people and they view areas near the mounds as cursed. (Spring-heel Jack is another “Mothman” myth)
This is a good episode, I was surprised it wasn’t on the CZcams channel after listening to it on iTunes.
1:25:10 "i think its when people are linking overarching areas of interest that creativity really happens". I love this
1:48:27 I am in awe. This makes so much sense! Another thing connected to why Astrology works is what Bruce Scofield said in his interview: The solar system is a self-organizing system just like other forms of life ;)
I personally have been doing a lot of research on Jungian Archetypes and how they fit with not only the Zodiac but more specifically the AC/DC/MC/IC. Hopefully we can come to a universal understanding of psyche by applying what we know from astrology with what we know from depth psychology. This video is exactly what I was hoping for as a follow up to your previous upload. As always, thank you for your tremendous work, Chris 😇
Thank you, Chris...have always been curious about Jung relationship to astrology and archetypes...loved.
Omg yes, can't tell how happy I am about this episode!!
Thank you Chris and Safron for this interesting discussion on Jung. A few years ago I did dream work with a Jungian psychologist which was really profound. In Jung's use of astrology, I'm sure he said or implied that through reconciling opposition's in one's life, individuation was obtained in the centre of the circle. ❤❤
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS THANK YOU
You're an excellent interviewer Brennan! Seriously
I simply loved listening this conversation, very enlightening and informative 🎉💫💖👌
I LOVE this episode. Jung and Astrology are two things I’m passionate about. What was really cool was the part on synchronicity when Chris talks about the clock on the wall saying it’s 5 o’clock and it was exactly 5pm on my clock!! Mind blown at THAT bit of synchronicity 🤯🤯🤯
Thank you both. I will try to find out more about synchronicity, the relationship between the inner and outer worlds.
OH MY GOD I literally had my eye on Pacifica for graduate school. IT'S SO COOL YOU'RE INTERVIEWING A PROFESSOR FROM THERE! And omg I had no idea Richard Tarnas taught there, too. Please God, PLEASE HEAVENS let me go there after undergrad 😭
You can do it, I believe in you!
@@TheAstrologyPodcast haha you are awesome thank you for responding made my day
Thank you so much for this re-release! What a topic! My two current hyper-focuses combined! I'm so excited, thank you for getting me through this work day!
Sadly, there may never be another Jung to analyze and synthesize the collective unconscious so I hope the younger generations can grasp the importance of the archetypes in relation to our daily lives.
Had to save this one for Sunday. ❤
I'll be back. Looking forward to this.
A most interesting discussion! Really enjoyed this collaborational deep dive! Thank you! 🫡
I've been enjoying this deep dive. Thank you!
Wonderful episode Chris and guest! Enjoyed it a lot.
Jung spoke 6 languages fluently, btw.

Can you give more information on this Conference on May in Chicago?
This is an old episode that was re-released recently, so that conference happened in Chicago in May of 2018. There is a conference happening next year in May of 2024 though called the Northwest Astrological Conference, which you can find through Google.
Thank you!@@TheAstrologyPodcast
