Every one of us is facing the elements... things that are trying to keep us from being who we want to be or who we are called to be... the friend we want to be, the sibling we want to be, the spouse we want to be, the parent we want to be, the person of community we want to be, and ultimately the believer we want to be... Facing these elements that are trying to stumble us or change our course is what we must be aware of, what we must fight daily. This crazy world comes hard against us. It makes us want to look after ourselves, not others. It makes us want to retreat, not step into calling. We have to wake up every morning with a steadfast resolve to fight the elements.
Toby, I'm a pastor in Houma Louisiana. My 12 yr old son introduced me to your new song. I have to say, my heart has been stirred over the last 2 days as I have listened to this song. I feel such a burden for the people I shepherd and for believers everywhere, to with one hand fight off the lying elements of this evil world system, so they can with the other hand reach out with compassion to a world that is blinded by those same lies. I'm like you T-MAC. I will go down swing, for my husband of 29 years and the mother of two amazing kids. If I go down. Last past 6 years felt like the fence was on top of me dealing with breast cancer and my husband having an injury on the job and they had to do amputation of one of his foot. So I will go down swing this year. I'm going to let the Word of God hit the enemy like Ali. The biggest reason the Politicians and local Police are against us is because we run 26 buses to inner city Baton Rouge and we bring in on average of 600 black,brown, and tan people to their town.
