How in the world would you ever Write something like this, and THEN REMEMBER it note for note, and THEN perform it PERFECTLY?????
Truly fantastic. Edgar Meyer's playing is perhaps the most economical playing of any player on any instrument I can think of. Both of his right-hand and left-hand technique look like they take absolutely no effort, and yet he produces this type of music. It's astonishing.
Performed by the only humans alive who could pull this off
Edgar has such excellent tone. Every note played with perfect precision. It's in such perfect unison that it feels like the notes are hugging each other.
amazing audio on this track, truly worthy of the performance.
Seriously. What’s the mic in front of Edgar’s fretboard?
@@vcam3331 Coles 4038, he is also using it on a recent Tiny Desk (at home) video with Goat Rodeo
@@matthewgirolami4509 Thank you
Love this stuff, but I also love the Cowboys and apparently you do too!
I love how Edgar Meyer looks like an auto parts salesperson here.
Scores 99.9986% thumbs up so far. Adjusted for YT that's actually well over 100%.
Never have I heard such lines on mandolin or violin, they sound more like jazz and blues lines rather than fiddle lines
That's is simply amazing. I'm always thankful when I learn that there is something new from this outstanding partnership. Please make other videos like this!
yep, I'm loving this. I'm a big classical fan, but definitely appreciate this artistry
Chris thile is the best mandolinist alive
Two masters of their instruments......They are other worldly.
This is the genius...of genius....a genius...that which cannot be more perfect..
Two masters of their instruments
Gotta love that change of time, its what makes it so pro.
Fantastic Interplay! Thanks for your beatiful music!
Superb performance from two wonderful instrumentalists both of whom are among my idols.

I kinda think that Edgar Meyer is as close to perfect on his instrument as any upright bass player will ever be.
+dr05guitar he is the eddie van halen of upright bass
dr05guitar I totally agree! His attack is impeccable! 🐻❤️
LerySarti Eddie’s a good musician but that’s an insult to Edgar.
@@bossHogOG you have a stupid opinion, but ok
Paulie Rosanski so nothing to say? Ok

Wow, meaty intellectual music, makes me want a very expensive steak with very expensive wine, not sure why but there you have it.

Looks like a Coles 38 on the bass, is that a new Telefunken ELAM on the Centre?
What's that mic directed at neck of bass?
How are there dislikes on this?
Pop
tabs?
The time signature.... wha??
I think it's 7/8...? Maybe...? haha
Jesse Bentley Maybe in one part or another. lol.
***** Yeah... I think there is a bunch of 7 in there but I thought a heard a bunch of 2 3 3 groupings. Also that part in the head where they metrically modulate up for just a few bars is so cool.
Blake Baldwin yeah, it definitely adds a level of complex curiosity. But, that is to be expected from masters.
Chris Thile: way too busy playing mandolin to comb his hair :-)
This is the type of jazz I don't quite understand. Lol! But regardless, you have to appreciate the talent. :)
You made this comment a long time ago, but this isn't jazz.
I don't think I've ever seen Chris Thile's hair so short.
Looks like 16 viewers only have taste in their mouths
It's a studio session, you're supposed to show up comfortable...
*Slaps bass*
