- So the question is simple how hard should you train legs. In this video I go over just that. I will take you through a leg workout and show you how your training should look and how hard you should be training. Just a side note this type of training is for intermediate and advanced people. But if you are a beginner this will be good to watch also.

Same thing with seated leg curls ?
I've finished your type of leg training about half an hour ago and all I can say is, *it* *works* , *it* *feels* , me and my gym partner we pushed our bodies to the limits. We done stretching between sets if we were too pumped up but in the end, after like 2h .. wow. I even done more on leg press and squats.
Thank you sir 💪😊!!! Good workout. Now, I expect soreness for like a week but is fine 😂.
mountaindog1 can we get a old school hour plus work out leg day video
Fantastic video John! :) Can I ask, what camera and microphone does your video guy use to record? The picture and audio are amazing! Thanks, Bec
Hey John! This is your old neighbor and fan! This is good stuff! I have a strange problem with squats, and would love to get some feedback. If you have time, read this out some man, would appreciate it.
I'm 43, not a big guy, 190lbs. I'm strong in the squat and tend to powerlift. Can do a full squat of maybe 350lbs, and been gear free all my life, and have hit 400lbs before. i'm sort of strong is my point.
I'm the business guy who moved to China, talked to you before. Well my best friend here owns one hell of a gear company here in China! Its one of the better known internet companies that offers. they guy has good quality, tested gear.
So now that i'm older, and with his guidance, I decided to do my first controlled cycle. Test and Anavar only. And I feel WONDERFUL now, but also have much more motivation in the gym.
I think that I have good genes for bodybuilding, and so far I seem to be a hyper responder. My goal was to get strong and rip up some. But i'm responding so well, that I have gained 15 lbs, so I am shifting my thinking into clean bulking on this first cycle. 600mg of test per week, and 50mg of Anavar, prob a bit to much.
I'm having issue with leg day, because I go 100%. and I can always seem to push out more reps with squatting. I can rep 350 now, and as soon as I think i'm gassed, I can push more out, so I don't really know when to quit. that's one problem i'm having, i'm being a puss about it. Should I go to failure? and if so, how would you advise I do that?
And now for my other more serious interesting problem. I am growing so much, so fast that after leg day, all the muscles in my legs swell to the point that it effects my circulation to my feet some, and messes with my sleep. I feel like I can feel my legs growing man, its crazy!
My blood work looks good, kidneys look good. I think its caused from muscle inflammation, After 3 days, i'm fine. Does this seem normal to you? have you ever had this problem? It even fucks with my sleep on leg day.
When Mr. Meadows starts with "Alright Hi Errybaadiee" - just for a fleeting moment, everything is good with the universe.
For months I legit though he was using some personal slang "higher body"
:)
So true:D

Leg day today John, I'll be thinking about u the whole time man. Thank-you for making my life and many others better and Thank-you for always putting a smile to my face
Same thought I had, best thing to honor him is to hit the gym hard and reach our goals
Last 2 reps are for Zyzz and John
Nobody:
John Meadows: Now it's time to test your pain tolerance
Everybody: Time to go home
I have so much respect for JM, he takes interest in his son’s hobbies and puts him in his videos to show off and have something to work towards. Awesome information and an awesome Dad! From one Dad to another... cheers 💪🏻
thank you!
That was very sweet, cool trick he did!
totally agree
Kid has skills!
Alexander is a legend
When John says it is a bad idea, u simply listen
I'm just here for the yoyo
“This is fun...... ‘cause now we’re gonna test your pain tolerance” 😂😂😂. Ohhhh good times! ❤️
Holy hell Alex is mean with that yoyo
This is why good legs commands such respect amongst seasoned lifters :)
Love how he gives Tom credit!
i always give credit
When Meadows said "ah fck eagh" at 13:36, I felt that
The most relatable feeling
Love how you're humble enough to give advice to everyone, including Natty's and beginners...
Everybody knows I'm doing legs when they see me hanging out by the trash can haha
yep
holy shit so true. just in case you puke lol
Drag that trash can to the rack with you bröther
Been there to! lmao
Mountain dog is one of the best CZcamsr in explaining the meaning of training skills
Already miss John’s teachings, shared experiences, and simple ‘how to’ & ‘why’ guidance! 🙏🙏
What a legend! 🌟
RIP John Meadows, helping countless number of people even after you are gone.
"Now its time to earn my legs" I love that, I really do think people underestimate the power of intensity
Still coming back to these videos a year later. Learn from the best.
Train em so hard to the point where they have to wheel you out in a wheel chair
You’re missed, John. We love your videos. They are helping me out tremendously.
Have been following lots of fitness channels, hands down best one is yours. To the point, full of amazing information and zero BS. Respect!!
I'm just recently found you on CZcams (I'm from Sweden) and man you're a great inspiration and a truly amazing man. Your exercise videos are educational and the real deal. I'm constantly going through your vids nowadays. It motivates me to get better every day. Keep it going John. Absolutely awesome stuff! 🙏 Thank you.
Appreciate the thoughts at the end on pushing through pain when training legs. I really struggle to summon any kind of enthusiasm when it comes to legs training, and after listening to you, I'm determined to man up and push through it.😂
As always very informative and educational. I especially appreciate the commentary regarding loading and volume parameters for novice to advanced trainees and natty vs. geared. Thanks John!
Getting leg day in for you today man, every leg day I'll remember how much you've done for the fitness community 💪🏿
Man I just love the way you move that weight, you're an inspiration.
One of my favorite leg days is 1 mile of walking lunges as fast as possible. Hoooooooly shit, talk about pain and crippled soreness for 7 days. My best time is 48 minutes (and didnt cheat an inch). I challenge anyone to try it and tell me they could walk the next day lol
I'll pass...haha
@John Williams no pain, no gain lol
John thanks for sharing your decades of knowledge. Appreciate the videos you put out for the community to view. People are lucky to be able to get great training info free of cost. Before the web we only had magazines or person to person interaction. I been training for over 30 years and still learn some new things.
Loved the message at the end. Same thing I’ve always felt to be true. Have to push hard come leg day.
Best speech in a really long time about training legs in the end💯
I'll follow your words to the book. Unlike most, I love to train legs and they're always the beginning of my workout sessions. By the way, people should really train legs more, way more.
Agree. Leg workouts stimulate the entire body, like nothing else does.
Maybe if your training abs or something but I wouldn’t recommend training legs and another body part like back or arms or anything really. Legs should get their own day
Bro you and Coach Greg , are my full base of knowledge , I really appreciate the free knowledge. Alot of people don't I appreciate it I do for sure.
Excellent video again John..I don’t have thick legs but do love training legs..nothin hurts more than worked legs but I think the personal feeling of accomplishment is worth it!great advice from you as ever...once it hurts..THEN you keep going..that’s when the reps really start..I think fear stops most people in leg training.already lookn forward too more videos!
13:37 that was the first time I've ever heard John drop an F-Bomb LOL
Lol. Your right. You know its rough when he cusses.
literally goes straight back being a sweet family man😇😂

The most honest straight forward training advice on the net that's applicable to everyone on any training level
I made the mistake of watching this AFTER my leg workout. Now I want to go back and redo it!!!
i love how open john is and how considerate he is of natural people. some other bodybuilders would just tell us what THEY do, rather than what they want OTHERS to do. what a guy
You're a legend mate! Absolute class! 💯🏋♂️🏆🏅 automatically feel like im in good hands when taking your advice, you've got that vibe about you that says "trusted, respected and honest, no bullshit". Love it mate! 🙌💪🏋♂️🏆🏅
These videos will live on forever. Thanks for everything you taught me John may you RIP 🙏 brother.
The depth John goes on hack squat machines are killers. Inspired me to go deeper, lowering weight and feeling the rep. Love his leg videos
Mr. Meadows, thank you again for this vital information 💪🏼 love watching all your videos. I'm planning on trying the granite protein soon!

Cant wait, proper inspiration : )
Dorian Yates and John Meadows the only trainers who’s methods work for me. Thank you sir for all that you do.
just got back from gym, all i can say is that routine is a total killer. tom platz is my absolute leg hard training idol and he would be proud of this routine! great job Mr Meadows!
You are an enciclopedia of knowledge Mr Meadows, keep it up with the videos, they are amazing, thank you for sharing
Thank you, John for being informative for the natties out there.

I feel like every time I train legs too hard, I'm sleepy throughout the entire day, the very next day.
Just Some Guy without a Mustache I see you on every video, bodybuilding, Sky news hahaha

I'm the same way 😂
You have the best videos. You articulate well, and I appreciate how you speak to new and veteran lifters as well as natural and I handed athletes.
Funny how this vid is perfect timing... just started reincorporating leg workouts into my routine. I think I originally stopped because of a schedule conflict, then after that just made excuses. somehow it turned into a couple years and Im paying the price with soreness, a reality check on how my strength has declined, and confirmation that I can never stop again. This channel is definitely motivating and full of great info. Time to reclaim myself. Top it all off yoyo tricks...and how can I lose.
F*** yes! I am about to hit legs here in like 2 hours, eating rn, back on the bulk! Sucks I moved to Wyoming and never got to meet you man. One day for sure! You’re a legend and an inspiration to all of us ❤️
Been training legs harder than ever, I can say that I enjoy training legs a lot more because of it !
Thank you John! God bless you and your family!!
Always great content John!! I've been pointing my toes in leg curls and getting good growth from that. Dropped the weight, TUT, and finish off last set with a triple drop set. Whoooo, crazy pump! Hams are the leg Biceps.
I follow a few guys on CZcams that I think impart incredible knowledge and seem to be awesome people to boot. Jeff Cavalier and Ryan Humiston immediately come to mind. But you, John, seem to take the cake. This is essentially the next best thing after actually being able to lift in the gym with a professional body builder. The fact that you give this invaluable knowledge for free to anyone willing to listen is testament to your good character. In a field with quite a few folks who make great videos on the subject, I think yours may just be the best. Thank you so much for what you do.
thank you :)
Jeff cav? Never watched humiston but that is a very sub par Jeff, on par with kino body and vshredz in the most popular charlaton crew
John, do not take this the wrong way. You've got "old man strength", killed this workout man. You are a beast...and would prob put my mid 20s ass to shame lol.
im fighting hard!
Another great one! Enjoying your videos a loy, keep ‘m coming! :)
Thanks for the elaboration on the importance of muscle fatigue!
Again, you da man. Thank you for the knowledge. Know that your knowledge reaches to other through others and unifies the bodybuilding/weightlifting community
I love all you "old school" guys. I started growing when I stopped going easy.
I love when you say “this is going to be tough a real workout for us”!!
When you work your legs and back the hardest that’s when you will see the most results.

I can listen to John talk about literally anything all day long. Such a great communicator. He's the professor of gains.
Always learn something useful on this channel. Thanks for sharing your experience. Cheers!

I have learned a great deal from you sir. Will keep on learning from your videos. Love learning and implementing this into my workouts!!! Thank you John!!! Also The Yo-Yo 🪀 is awesome!! 👍
Thanks. I hate leg day because of the pain. I needed to hear someone say ignore the pain and keep working them. Thanks again.
Very intense training , super good
Cool gym
I love the mindset aspect to make the switch and, "EARN your legs." If we don't have those types of machines available, can you recommend alternatives?
Daniel DeJong yah dude I hate bar squats. It’s so annoying trying to hold it on the back with the shoulders externally eotsfes
@@waqidj just take a wider grip and stay high bar. it shouldn't feel that uncomfortable or you're doing it wrong. also, your back and shoulders should be the last thing you're thinking about when you're really grinding on your legs.
Daniel DeJong Dumbbell lunges
@@waqidj Do face pulls to improve shoulder mobility and improve rear delts too bro
Always clench when I watch you train hard ... inspiring
I really enjoy how we see the trainer doing the exercises. Great videos with tons of information. Subscribed.
You have the best machines in your gym
Gregg brought me here. Subbed. Cheers john
I'm very happy to hear from a pro, that it really takes a different mindset to train legs. For me, I've mostly trained upper body my whole life. But my training partner taught me the way to do legs. And I was always going for it even the pain and exhaustion is quite greater. Still, I didn't have courage to go through the program by myself. I needed my training partner's motivation and co-suffering being able to train legs. But just in recent 6 months, I've been able to train legs very hard myself alone. Maybe the pain tolerance fixed abit and the courage also rose to needing level. So I tell from experience also, it really is compeletely different situation for required mindset, to go for legs. So thank you, John. It's always nice to have honest, and neutral speak, through experience. Thumbs up big time! 👍
Just made it through back block of Taskmaster and it's wild. This is a great video to put your programing into perspective. Your descriptions for each excersice combined with videos on technique is very helpful. Chest and shoulder block coming up! I appreciate the effort you put into the community and hope to be able to train with you one day.
thank you!
‘Yea so we’re just gonna do a feeler set before the cluster set’ *comes back drenched in sweat*
i snuck in a few sets for my Instagram..haha
Tom Platz intensity!!!!
I use to play soccer growing up and my calves grew to a moderate size. Now with bodybuilding, I've learned to love doing leg curls and extension. It not only helps with size, but also developming a mind to muscle contraction and isolation with these workouts. And as always thanks for the videos!
Thanks for the the leg workout. I am incorporating some of the work sets into my work out. I usually warm with a stair master or treadmill with a max incline.
Something tells me that when John will reach the age of 100 he will still have crazy leg development and zero problems to stand up and go up the stairs
13:36 is where the cluster set makes John swear. I like that.
