  • Hi everyone!
    Sorry this video took a while to upload. Life got crazy for a bit! I’ll explain that in my next video.
    On the 2nd May we went to a lovely show at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre. It’s the first time we’ve competed since lockdown started, so it was nice to get back out again. It was also Nikko’s first ever show! He did super well and the only things that let him down were inexperienced baby moments, like anxiously jogging instead of walking during the individual show. As you can see he has an incredible trot, so he will do well once he matures a bit more!
    Saffy on the other hand was an absolute brat! She bucked, exploded and kicked in both her classes. Her redemption was her set ups were good and relatively patient for once. She came last in both her classes, as they couldn’t place her above a well behaved horse. She doesn’t seem to enjoy showing unfortunately and only acts like this in the ring. She’s incredibly well trained at home and even out on walks for practice, so we will see if more experience helps out over time! If not, it’s not the end of the world and I’ll stick to showing Nikko.
    Thanks for watching!
    Elise x

    I used to lunge my mini's to settle them before we took them in the ring. Very pretty pintalooss you are showing in the unusual color class.

      When they’re old enough to be worked, lunging is definitely a good way to settle them! Thank you 😊

    What brand winter blankets do you have with the necks? You used them after their baths? Nice job at the show you all looked great!! Saffy was definitely full of herself, such a beautiful pony! Nikko is so flashy 😁

      The grey tartan rugs are from Ruggles. They were from a few seasons ago though, so no longer sold in that pattern. Thank you!

    Ich hoffe das Wasser war wenigstens warm. Eines Termines zittert ja richtig nach dem waschen und Shampoo abgesehen davon fängt man auch nicht an, direkt über den Kopf zu duschen. Schon gar nicht mit kaltem Wasser, sondern von unten von den Hufen über die Beine nach oben über den Hals und dann an den Kopf.

    What exactly is required for these shows. What are you doing with the horses when you stand in front of them? Can you also, in the future, tell us in the video what they are talking to you about? I have an interest in these shows, so I have another question. Are you saying the section is 3 and 4 year olds, and that you got 7th place in that?

    • @eliseblair140
      @eliseblair140  Před 3 lety +1

      Showing has different classes for different breeds/types/colours. Breed classes are showing the best of their kind. This was a show for miniature horses with different classes within it. So, the newcomers class was for horses who had never shown before, the yearling class is for horses in their first year of life and so on with the 2/3yr old class (they merge those two ages unfortunately, which makes it hard for the younger 2yr olds to win against a more mature 3yr old). When I stand in front of them what’s meant to happen is they stand in a perfect square halt with their neck stretched out, so the judge can view all sides of the horse and make their decision on placings. My horses are a little anxious still and inexperienced, so they move about a bit. Most of the time the judge is just giving a little feedback at the end, so with Nikko it was that he is a good type, but jogging instead of walking let him down. Then with Saffy it was just that it wasn’t her day 😂! Other than that they don’t speak to you during the class, other than to ask the age of the horse being shown. I usually do voice overs, so will make sure to do that in the future! Thanks for the feedback!
