The rules of VAR state that they can only overturn clear and obvious errors. In the footage from the game, there is no clear and obvious error saying the ball went out of play. Because VAR cannot find a clear and obvious error, the call goes to how the on field ref called it. Those refs called a goal, so goal stands. If the officials called it out, that decision would’ve stood too. It’s not the fault of VAR nor the camera. It’s simply, VAR could not find a clear and obvious error to reverse the call
Now for offside and out of bounds, yes they can draw the lines as that is all based on location of everything. However, they were unable to draw the lines as the ball was unable to be seen from the angles that VAR had. For that reason, they had to go with the call from the on field ref.
But if thats the case they make one player block the camera and var cant do anything

@@originalherdsman3524united get terrible calls all the time whether it be from var or from on field refs, they just don't usually lead to us being scored against. these bad calls only get brought up if theres a goal involved. even in the last game mainoo made a brilliant tackle against a luton player and we were about to counter but the ref called a foul and even gave him a yellow. this gave luton a freekick on the edge of the box when we should be countering.

It can't be 'clearly out of play' when you can't even see the ball. You can blame the lack of camera angles but not VAR in this case - the correct decision was made.

Bein sports did coverage of the event showing the ball was still in play. You can see enough of the ball on the left of Bowen's leg to workout the size of the ball and conclude it WAS a legitimate goal.
