    Hello everyone! Thanks for watching this video! As of August 2023, I'm no longer an ALT with the JET Program (I left on good terms!). I won't be responding to comments on this video anymore, but you can still connect with me on Instagram @chelseav_jp
    Thanks for supporting this channel the past 2 years, it was fun creating videos about being an ALT!

    glad you're making videos again! I'm applying for Jet next year to come over with my family, so I'd love to see vlogs of your daily life as an alt or even adventures you go on in Japan. Keep up the good work ☺️

    I think itd be cool if u could talk bout ur day as ALT and wat they expect u to do there + ur role in a classroom.
    Also i think many ppl go ALT to travel in japan so maybe a vid on how much free time u get in a week of ALT could be gud too

      @@chelseav I second this! I am also curious about what your schedule looks like split between the different schools and the dress expectations for ALTs.
      Another thought: what is your social life like? Are you mostly friends with other ALTs? How did you meet them/ get to know them? Etc
      Great video by the way :)

    Hey Chelsea! I haven't gotten through all your videos yet but really glad to see you doing well 🙌 (minus the peanut episode 😬). Would be cool to hear about other important healthcare or medication differences, or even social differences we'd do well to be aware of before visiting for the first time 😊

    thanks for the video! it's so interesting to hear about other people's experiences on the JET program because as we all know, esid :-) I personally found that I brought way too many casual clothes that I dont really have a chance to wear/feel comfortable wearing because my students all live relatively close to me 😅 would definitely pack more business casual if I had to do it over again. and more indoor shoes. :/

    Hi Chelsea, your video was on my recommended, I did enjoy it. In addition you are in one of my favorite places in Japan, Kagoshima! I hope you ae able to enjoy Kagoshima. Since, I only travel in the summer, here are some things you might enjoy Sakurajima Matsuri/Hanabi, MBC Matsuri, the fire burning umbrellas by the river event, the shave ice shop between Tenmonkan and Dolphin Port, real long lines in summer, also the Mikoshi festivals on the main street by Tenmonkan. Hiking Shiroyama, Outdoor onsen/spa at the Shiroyama Hotel (Free points card at Concierge gets you half price on all day spa/onsen pass) BTW free shuttle to Shiroyama Hotel from Rear of Kagoshima Chuo JR Station. cheers! Clayton from LA
    BTW, it's real hot and humid, I lose weight there in the summer.

    Do you know ALTs who had friends or family back home ship items (maybe clothes, winter coats) that didn't fit in their suitcase? Any idea how expensive that is or what to consider if I'm thinking of going that route?

    • @chelseav
      @chelseav  Před rokem +1

      thats's definitely a common practice! the few things i've shipped or sent to me internationally was about $100 in shipping for medium sized packages. i recommend really thinking about what's essential for you, as most things can be bought here in japan

      @@chelseav Thanks for all your responses, Chelsea! I've heard that it can be hard to find shoes for people with large feet in Japan. I've encountered that when renting boots skiing in Japan. Maybe I'll consider shipping my shoes that don't fit in my suitcase, just so I don't have to worry about those, but try to get most other things in Japan
