1:59: Though, to be fair, both of those examples are actually based on the Donkey Kong theme heard on the NES version of the Arcade Game, 11 years PRIOR to Donkey Kong Country.

6:37: The reason Nintendo won is because the comparison to Donkey Kong and King Kong was not only coincidental, but the claim that King Kong was the inspiration is completely false. Nintendo made the Donkey Kong game like this, because Nintendo didn't have the rights to make an arcade game about Popeye the Sailor. In fact, some of Mario's influence was taken from Popeye. The reason for that was because the original concept of the Donkey Kong arcade game was heavily inspired by one Popeye short in particular: "A Dream Walking". In that short, Olive Oyl ends up walking in her sleep to the point of wondering around a construction site; both Popeye and Bluto were fighting each other over the safety of Olive. The Construction Site in the short behaves similar to how the construction site in the Donkey Kong game does, although it's more notable with 75m, a stage later used in Super Smash Bros. three times over. Another similarity is that both Bluto and Donkey Kong fell from a tall height, they ended up being dizzy. Also, Universal's attempt to sue Nintendo was for nothing, since King Kong entered the public domain, which they are well aware of. Lastly, Miyamoto was trying to find a few words to describe a Stubborn Gorilla, and make sure it's catchy enough to grab the attention of an American audience; Donkey was used for Stubborn, and Kong was used, because it was slang for Gorilla in Japan, so Miyamoto went with "Donkey Kong". I am sick of people neglecting the fact Mario was inspired by Popeye in the creation of his debut appearance. It just makes me sick.
8:08: Actually, with all this talk about "Donkey Kong '94", a spiritual prequel to "Mario vs. Donkey Kong", I can't believe you even forgot this move was ALSO from Donkey Kong '94; In fact, none of Mario's athletic abilities would've been a thing if that game never existed, nor would Mario vs. Donkey Kong.
