The great man is a genius. I can't think of him in the past tense. There are very few in the history of conducting who have his humanity and innate musicality.

Dann kam Sir Simon Rattle und ich habe zum ersten Mal Beethoven im Abonnementskonzert gehört und mußte nicht die teure Karte für die Sonderkonzerte kaufen. Rattle hat das Orchester auch mit seiner Liebe zu Haydn und der intensiven Arbeit mit Jugendlichen sehr bereichert. Also:Von Karajan bis Petrenko waren alle immer eine gute und interessante Wahl.

Dommage de ne pas entendre la Symphonie fantastique de Berlioz en entier sous la conduite d'Abbado qui semble bien fatigué.... Et l'orchestre philharmonique de Berlin semble lourd, lourd, pesant...Il ya de bien meilleures interprétations de Berlioz sur youtube.
