Americans hands down the greatest of all the spy thrillers
While I do not care for most network shows I really enjoyed Person of Interest. It struck a good balance between a procedural show with a new challenge each week but has a nice ongoing meta-plot that bubbled to the surface every so often.

It seems I'm the only one who really liked "Burn Notice". Pity.
There are several British series missing from this list ranging from Callan (Edward Woodwood) from the 1960's, Dangerman 1960-62 (Patrick McGoohan), The prisoner 1967 (Patrick McGoohan), Sandbaggers (Roy Marsden) late 70's thru early 80's and Spooks. AKA MI5 (Matthew Macfadyen) from 2002 thru 2011. Also the following mini series; Harry's Game 1982 (Ray Lonnen), Edge of Darkness 1985(Bob Peck), Tinker Tailor soldier spy 1979 (Alec Guinness), Smiley's People 1982 (Alec Guinness).
And those are just the one that come to mind without any research other than the dates aired. A couple of these are from ITV rather than BBC.

@@alexkool3511 That seems a litlte excessive in praise but i'll take it. On reflection I missed a few, I've only listed the ones I've watched, "The Spy Who Came in from the Cold i", "the Constant Gardener", "the taior of Panama" , "A murder of Quality". "A most wanted man" (all based on John le Carré books) Wynne and Penkovsky. Then there are the lowbrow options; The professionals, C.A.T.S. Eyes, The Saint (sort of), The Avengers (why did thet think it could replace Dr Who),
The Night manager is an underrated show but worth watching

The Americans is good, Homeland has is moments in specific seasons.

Shooter & Agent Carter are the best shows in this list.
Nah Person of Interest, but "you're irelevant".
Shooter was good but don't think it stands up to the more technically advanced international espionage series, like Homeland, The Americans and Jack ryan
I don't think the shooter is better than the likes of Condor or even Hanna
Condor, Hanna and Jack Ryan are way better than Shooter.

Not only "The Americans" is not at the top of your list but have "PERSON OF INTEREST" over it.
