  • The passenger seat of this 2014 Civic EX was very dirty and I wanted to remove it so I could clean it outside.
    You have to disconnect the battery for at least 1 hour to avoid an accidental airbag deployment. Have patience with the blue clips...

    Thank you for getting right into it and keeping any of the extra bs out. A perfect example of great help video.

    Quick tip, at 1:30 if you do not want to remove the entire plastic holder from the seat there is a pin you can push down on the zip tie with a small thin flathead and with your other hand pull the zip tie out. This was easier for me, maybe it's harder for some, just another way of doing it. Unfortunately I still couldn't figure out where/how to take out the passenger weight sensors. There appears to be two nuts holding the front sensors but it's hard to reach in and I'm not sure if that is the right spot. Honda definitely had room here to make this more DIY friendly. Very unfortunate.

    do you happen to have the part number for that plastic trim cover that hides that last 14mm bolt for the seatbelt?

    I saw this video when it was uploaded and thouht neat, but I dont know when I would need to remove the passenger seat. Well, it turns out my front passenger weight sensor(s) are bad (at least according to diagnosis) and Honda doesnt sell them separately, only the whole frame rail with the sensors attached. Going to see if I can DIY, will probably need Honda dealer to clear the code afterwards.

      I am glad this helped you. You can always clear the codes with a cheap OBD reader.

    So 56f taking out my passenger front seat and entire back seat area of my 2015 honda civic lx sedan. I just got the socket wrench set as I have no car tools. If you have time why did and how did you disconnect the battery before using the socket wrenches? I have no experience fiddling around with cars except to check fluids, change a tire and put air in the tires...lol I also saw you doing something with i guess fuses??? I know I wouldn't rip them out but is there anything I should be looking for specifically if I have this video with me in the car while I am doing this. Or should it not be pLayed with by someone who has never done anything like this before????? I just want to be safe, is all. Thanks for the video.

      Thank you for your questions.
      Disconnecting the battery is VERY important if you are going to remove the seat to avoid an accidental seat’s airbag deployment.
      The reason I wanted to remove the seat was to thoroughly clean it outside the car. There are some challenging clips and you will need a few tools. If you don’t have those tools or your skill level is not that high, I would recommend to clean the seat inside the car the best you can.
      Having a “carpet cleaner” type machine helps a lot, like this one: a.co/d/0dm7qBmg

    can i swap 9th gen Si seats? no airbag deploy issues? thanks

    • @gotitdone
      @gotitdone  Před 3 měsíci

      Sorry. I don’t have any experience in swapping seats. I don’t know how the sensors will react if you change the seat.

    Is the drivers seat the same?

    • @gotitdone
      @gotitdone  Před 3 měsíci

      I think so since it is not a powered seat. I would have the same airbag precautions like disconnecting the battery and waiting.
