- The Lagos Blue Line was built by China Civil Engineering Construction Corp (CCECC) and this links the mainland part of the city to Lagos Island.
On September 4, 2023, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu officially opened the Blue Rail transit for public use.
The Blue Line is an electric LRT i.e. Light Rail transit line that runs within Lagos State, Nigeria for now. It is important to note that no level crossings and uncontrolled access by pedestrians or vehicles is allowed and security has been provided to prevent vandalism.
There are five stops, namely Marina, National Theatre, Iganmu, Alaba, and Mile 2; while it extend the tracks to Okokomaiko from Marina in-between, we have LASU, Volkswagen, Trade Fair, Alakija, Festac, Mile 2, Alaba, Igamu, National Theatre which makes a total of 13 stations.
I bought the Cowry card N500 and paid N375 each from Mile 2 to Marina and Marina to Mile 2 = N1250
Advantages
1. It’s comfortable - you can relax, sleep, or work on the go.
2. Less time is spent while commuting because of no traffic jam.
3. It’s Affordable - equivalent to bus fare
4. It’s Often Faster Than travelling By Bus
5. Trains Are Usually Reliable
Disadvantages
1. It can feel long and exhausting.
2. You might experience train problems, be it electrical or otherwise
3. Risk of theft, and you can’t be rescued while on motion
My Reviews
1. I feel the government. can do better by bringing down the fare slightly below the prices for bus transportation
2. Also, it will be nice if the management can create avenues where the boarding of passengers will be done orderly.

Wow I like this train… we have one here in Ethiopia but it’s small… and no where near enough for the population. and the way people cram inside has made me stop taking it years ago😅✋🏽nice vid
Thanks ma'am for your lovely comment😊the government need to do more for her citizens especially in the area of transportation (traffic jam) cos of one's mental health. Much love from Nigeria🇳🇬❤️
Oluwa seun o. This is just the beginning of great things to come to Nigeria 🇳🇬 my beloved country.
Yes o. God is good
Hey Sandra, I'm Oromidayo, the guy you met at UI botanical garden. It's cool meeting you.

BRAVO WITH THE CHINESE USED TRAINS IN LAGOS😢😮😮😅😅😅😅😅😅.
Nice video , nice train. Hope they keep up with the maintenance and cleaning of the stations. Keep on keeping on.
Yes Daddy❤️, I hope so too because we lack that here. Thanks for always supporting me🙏🏽Good evening Dad
Yes we lack maintenance a lot now I see why it will look dirty in less than 3 months. But I hope they do maintain it.
We are behind on development and maintenance
@mrchidindustoyworldmovies7650 you're right sir about the poor maintenance regarding our facilities but I feel that these ganitors are paid less compared to their job description and also few hands on deck to work to achieve good maintenance.
@mrchidindustoyworldmovies7650 We are actually. Good morning sir
Nice one and a good compilation. Kudos. Hope Nigerians would do away with bigotry but celebrate excellence at all times. The entire project was a brain child of President Tinubu no matter your opinion. Lagos is working.
I agree with you. Thank you sir for your support
Must you have to lie 🤥 about it? It was originally started by the late Governor of Lagos state Alhaji Lateef Jakunde of blessed memory! It was never the idea of Tinubu the certificate forger to start with 😂

Good work Sandra 😅
Azeez!😲Thanks for supporting🙏🏽Good to hear from you👍
Nice concept from Lagos state government
Yes o, the government did well with this project
15:06 this blue line is a "metro" system not LRT like the one in addis ababa, metro has much bigger capacity than LRT, and yes it is electric, but at the moment its being pulled by a diesel locomotive temporarily until they finish the electrification work,
and this metro now runs every hour, but a month or two from now, its gonna run every 10 mins
You're right, I called it lrt because it has features of a rapid rail transit (its actually a metro system) thanks for the correction
@@sannzcorner you are welcome sister ☺
and thanks to u for providing us with this nice video, very informative
👍with such videos i can witness how my african brothers and sisters developing their nations, im from algeria and im soo happy for u guys, i wish u guys all the best ♥and congrats for this metro system 🎊🎉🎉
@jet9211 much love from Nigeria 🇳🇬 I'm glad you found this video informative. Much love to my Algeria 🇩🇿 friend. Thanks again
Nice and engaging video with a lot of room for improvement. Please, keep it up.👍
I just want to point out that your annotation of the Third Mainland Bridge (7:19 - 8:05) isn't quite correct, and you'd definitely want to work on that subsequently, possibly by indicating with an arrow.
In that order, from your screen, Third Mainland Bridge (top), Carter Bridge (middle) and Eko Bridge (bottom), and they all connect Lagos Island to Lagos Mainland.
The Third Mainland Bridge was the longest in Africa until the 6th October Bridge was completed in Cairo, Egypt in 1996.
Yeah, that's an error from my side and thanks for the correction sir. I'll do better next time😊and thanks again for your support
@@sannzcorner You're most welcome.🙏 I figured that it must have been an oversight.
Well done, all the same.👍
@joshuaadedipe2284 yes it was. Good afternoon sir
As I can see, the train is not electrified yet. It’s being pulled by locomotive on both ends
The rail tracks are actually electrified
@@sannzcorner They will be, but they aren’t yet. Otherwise there won’t be need for the locomotive. Truth will take you far dear.
@@RandomMZ1412thank you
The metro is now running on electricity with trips now increased from 12 to 54 and to be further increased to 72 by December.
There are CCTV, so the cases of theft can be minimized but passengers must learn to keep their personal belongings safe.
Very correct because of the comfort, one may sleep off while on board
The most important thing is to use the money well for everyone. That's how it is in the developed countries.
Yes! That's what's every citizen expect from the taxes they collect, you're very correct sir
Your disadvantage is to reduce the train fare, Why can't you be grateful for the development? Can you work for free? I doubt it.
I can't work free, I did a price survey by comparing bus fares with that of train fare that's why I came up with this validation
Why is a diesel running locomotive connected to the train? I thought is was an electric operated line!
It's an electric train but can't tell when it has electrical fault then one switches to manual - my view (dual purpose)
just temporarly, until they finish the electrification work, its just being on a trial run, because this type of transit system is new to people, and for the safty of the ppl, they choosed to start slowly with diesel locomotives, u see at 15:06 on the right of the train tracks, there's a yellow rail, it has a high voltage 750v, and it can be dangerous, ppl might cross the tracks without knowing
starting slowly is the best choice for the safty of the ppl
next month or two, its gonna run fully electric and more frequently
👍
Full electricity operation has begun on Monday October 16th 2023 with 54 trips a day now from the previous 12.
Why does it looks like a metro interior
Yeah, it is a standard design of a modern train
It is a metro.
Because it is a metro. Standard design.
Nigerians are used to rushing for everything, so you do not expect the govt to teach us how to be orderly and learn to take turns to board. Why must we always not learn to look ourselves in the mirror but expect the govt to do everything for us?
I meant there should be guards (paid by the government) on standby to handle cases like this
Your camera 📸 is not bright 😢
Thanks for noting this, I'm using my phone for the filming. Please I apologise, I will get a camera but not soon. Good morning sir
Too much money lol
Yes o😄😄😄Thanks sir
A nice one.
