The S58 was a real work horse, a friend of mine who was a crew chief on them in Vietnam said they would sling load more weight than the first Bell Huey's that entered service in Vietnam.
to clear up any confusion the H-34 is the US military designation..S-58 is the Sikorskry civilian designation..both radial engine powered..the turbine engine powered version was called the S-58T which has a pratt &whitney PT6T twin pack engine installed instead of the Radial engine

These older piston powered models are a lot more likely to throw a widow maker at you so who knows maybe the pilot was having a shitty day lol

As I understand it, with the radial engine installed it is an H-34. The S-58 is turbine powered.
The later Models were Retrofitted with a Turbine......
H34 was military designation. S58 was civilian and the -T suffix denotes turbine.
