    You made an excellent video. I posted a video changing the oil removing the rear firewall panel and I get comments it can be changed easier and they reference your video. If I ever own another defender I may try the tile change your way...although I'm not as young and talented as you. Great job Merry Christmas 😊

    Thanks for the vid. I only have about 10 hrs on mine but I'm glad to see it can be done without tearing apart the interior.

    Just changed the oil on mine today like this. Was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Took about 15 minutes. I did not take bed off or take cab apart. They did put the oil filter in a pretty stupid spot though in my opinion.

    Nice video. I have been looking at buying a defender. Access to service the machine is a plus for me. I currently own a first gen commander which is a pain to service.

    I did my first oil change this way, but I prefer to remove the access cover in the cab behind the seat to get better access to the oil filter recess as there is a lot of oil accumulation in there and I like to clean it out. Only takes a few minutes and if you need to adjust your valves you also have access to your front cylinder valve cover.

    Polaris has a screw on filter this almost makes me go Polaris , the only difference in this and my older can am is I wouldn't have to take the engine cover off to get the filter out but my old one is definitely easier to get the screws out and replace the filter

    Take a min. and remove the air box for more arm room to get in there

    My manual says 2000 miles, no mention of early first change so mine isn't going to get changed till I get 2000 miles on it.

      Yes MR.RPM makes a kit.

    • @grantparnes
      @grantparnes Před měsícem +1

      @@rotaxrednex Did your defender have HVAC? ONE, if it did I would argue no way to get a Milwaukee in there. TWO, the RPM spin on kit does not fit models with air con. I changed mine yesterday for the first time by going thru the cab and would deem it near impossible to do (with air con) from the engine side. NOT without dropping a bunch of crud into the filter housing anyway. BRP obviously wanted the dealers changing the oil, because this filter type and location is ignorant at best. The angle of the filter housing does not even allow complete draining of the used oil in the house. DUMB location.

      Wish I had seen this video before I changed my filter. Really it’s not that hard once you know what your up against. It is intimidating because it is so cramped. Next time I’ll try to get some cord around those hoses and move them a couple inches away from cap it would a lot easier if hoses weren’t in way

    • @rotaxrednex
      @rotaxrednex  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You don’t take the cab off, it’s a panel in the cab that comes off, but the easiest way is to just take off center skid plate it take 10-15 mins now for the whole job that’s how I do it nowadays

      you can do it with 8mm deep socket ..dont drop the bolts .when reinstalling start and hand tighten bolts as much as possible ,then snug ..not too hard to do ,one thing to note my hd10 manual says 2.221 quarts ..too much... its actually about 2.1 qts ,had to take some out ..

      @@cathykenny6440all these people complaining about how hard this is, have never done any real wrenching. Ever r and r’d a 6.0L ford turbo or a 5.4L exhaust manifold? Then u can complain. It’s 3-8mm bolts people, my 10 year old can do it ffs.

    Looked into this in detail today. This a major design flaw in my opinion. Total deal breaker.
