    Regional variant Pokemon have been a thing for a while now, but it was only recently in Pokemon Legends Arceus that we saw regional variants of Starter Pokemon. To this point, only the starters in those games have received regional variants, but what if EVERY Starter Pokemon had one? In today's video, we are going to continue to explore this idea, as I showcase some more regional variant evolutions that I have created for more Starter Pokemon!

      im gonna be honest here and say i think that Cinderace could have been much cooler as a rock type, with the hard football pads and helmet making for a compelling reason to give this cinerace a rocky armor, and since its also now based on a brown coated rabbit, it even has the colors to match in my opinion, and i guess if i had to change one thing design wise from yours to portray that, it'd be to make the padding it has less like fur and more like rocks, as well as dusting it up some. this is just my constructive critism on it being a fighting type with nice earthy rock colors, you guys did a great job and deserve worlds of respect

      These are good too! Cinderace is my personal favorite already, but I wouldn't mind this regional form if it happened. Love the outlaw theme of Inteleon as I'm a big fan of cowboys myself being a Texan and all that! I think Sprigatito should have become a sabre tooth tiger in its final stage, so you could understand how I felt after Meowscarada's announcement and release to the public. And have you seen the way the legs look? I'd downgrade on the hips and thighs as they make me a bit uncomfortable when looking at that area, it feels wrong for a starter such as this one.

    I would've gone with Water/Steel for the Western inspired Inteleon to represent both the revolvers cowboys are usually depicter with and one of the biggest reasons for the existence of cowboys being the Gold Rush in the old west. Another reason I would go with that typing is because the existence of Greninja and Hisuian Samurott would make this version of Inteleon push the number of Water/Dark type combination starters to the same number as Fire/Fighting for starters.

    • @oireal7261
      @oireal7261 Před 7 měsíci +11

      I think that's interesting, however I also think that either Ghost or Fighting could've worked here.
      -Ghost would let it be supe-effective against itself, letting Inteleon actually duel in game. The faster one gets the one shot.
      -Fighting would be my other recommendation to represent the rugged and harshness of the western landscape and the scrappy nature of cowboys

    I am considering them do starter regional variants where the secondary type isn't change, but the primary/starter type is. For example, a Ghost type Fennekin that becomes Ghost/Psychic Delphox, based off how witches were executed in Salem. Unless there's no way for it to make much sense without becoming a new species, I'd rather next time they not be boring and keep the starter type. You could have these variants not be starters but rare wild encounters to show some diversity with the concept

    I've always thought that, if Primarina would get a regional form, it would be a secondary type like in the video. Unlike your banshee inspiration however, I've I think that it would fit perfectly in a future Germany based region. The inspiration here would have been the Tale of Lorelei, a woman sitting on a rock (also named Lorelei) in the Rhine river who leads men to their death by sailing into the rock because she grieved the loss of her lover (in some tales he died and in others he cheated on and left her).

  • @darkmask5933
    @darkmask5933 Před 7 měsíci +2

    I wish we had gotten Incineroar in this video as he's the one I was waiting for the most, but just gives me more reason to watch out for the final video! If you've not already designed it, I had an idea for Incineroar that still plays with its wrestling motif, OG Incineroar is based off "Heel" or villain wrestlers, so if there was a regional variant, it would be cool if it was based on being a "Face", or heroic wrestler. I was thinking it could include elements of famous Face Wrestlers in the US as well (since Incineroar was based off the famous Japanese "Heel" Tiger Mask), with Regional Incineroar taking cues from Hulk Hogan, one of the most famous American good guy wrestlers.
    As for typing, just like OG Incineroar is /Dark because its a villain, Regional Incineroar would play into that be /Fairy (instead of /Fighting), because he's a "hero" and a "good guy". I know Fighting-type is way more obvious, but we really don't need another Fire/Fighting type, and Regional Incineroar would be a Fairy because he's a hero in wrestling kayfabe, plus he would still have an advantage not only against his Heel counterpart, but other 'wrestler' Pokémon in general. Plus, Fire/Fairy is one of those typings we haven't gotten a representative for yet!
    As for a signature move, I was thinking of basic it off Hulk Hogan's own signature move "Leg Drop", it would be a physical Fire move with recoil that is also treated as a Fairy move for typing (like Flying press is both Flying and Fighting). That makes it a very versatile move, but like with real wrestling there's a good chance Incineroar would hurt himself when he uses it and put him in a risky situation.

    I personally think the regional Scorbunny should instead be Fire/Ground; out of any sport football players are by far the ones who get slammed to the ground the most, the burly nature of many Ground-types would work well for a football player, and football players also end up with tons of dirt on their uniforms due to the aforementioned tackling, which could be why this Scorbunny is brown instead of white.

    Great video. When looking at the Galar starters, I thought the original Inteleon (my Galar starter) would be part Poison or Ghost Type, while Cinderace would be part Electric type. • @Johan_4587
    @Johan_4587 Před 7 měsíci +1

    I don't think Primarina's new signature move would really be all that good. It has a massive Special Attack so a move like that would either 2-3 shot regardless of the added effect, making it essentially useless. If it 3 shots you're better off using Shadow Ball because it's stronger and will do more damage using it twice than Shrieking Sorrow would do in 3 moves. If you shorten it to 2 turns now that would be broken, so I'd say the best thing to do would be to change the effect entirely. I think something like Rage Fist would do wonders for a regional Primarina, the explanation could be that each time it is hit the pain and sorrow in it grows more intensely making the attack stronger. Literally just a Special Rage Fist, it's still good and matches the whole theme and isn't situational. Plus with Primarina's massive Special Attack and Special Defense being high it would be quite powerful against Special Attacking foes, but the trade off could be that it is slow and struggles against Physical Attacking foes.
    That was just for the move, but I really liked the designs in this video. I just thought that such a cool design should deserve a good move to go along with it. The original move itself wasn't a bad idea but it was used on the wrong Pokémon. A more defensive Pokémon with high utility and low attacking stats would be great with the original move concept. It could be used as a threat or used in a drawn out battle to change the pace.

  • @alastorcorvus
    @alastorcorvus Před 7 měsíci +2

    I think a good way to balance Shrieking sorrow would be to make it like Yawn, but instead of the Sleep condition, make it the Curse condition.

    • @Johan_4587

      I honestly think the move should be reworked into a special variant of Rage Fist, the effect in the video isn't really all that good with Primarina.

    Inteleon: Make a regional variant from Hoops that isn't Dark-type or draw 25.
    Cinderace: American Football? ...k...Well it kinda looks like a Rock or Ground type, so as long as it's either of those or something interest...never mind. Sidenote: Fire/Ghost should be the hated combo now given we got two in a row.
    Meowscarada: WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE GARDE...it's Psychic...oh.
    Primarina: Make a regional variant from Hoops that isn't Ghost type. Difficulty: Impossible. Also, base Primarina looks better.

    I think a Kalos game set in Ancient Kalos 3,000 war would break the idea of just a Variant, and give us a truly NEW Pokémon.
    The Base forms would remain exactly the same: Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie. Same Pure Grass, Fire, Water Types, and their Ability & Hidden Abilities would remain unchanged.
    But starting with their Second Stage/"Middle Forms", would be Variants.
    Quilladin - Grass/Steel Overgrow/- (HA: Heatproof)
    Braixen - Fire/Fairy Blaze/-
    (HA: Pixilate)
    Frogadier - Water/Poison Torrent/-
    (HA: Poison Touch)
    With new Final Evolutions as:
    "Chesarmor" Grass/Steel Overgrow/-
    (HA: Heatproof)
    [Quadrupedal Tank Porcupine with silver body and thicker armor-instead of the tan that Chesnaught has.]
    "Oruacisune" Fire/Fairy Blaze/-
    (HA: Pixilate)
    [Quadrupedal Kitsune--like Ninetales and Delphox fused together; except it has 1 single tail with a vine or branch held in the air. Pink/Purple fire burns on both ends of the vine/branch, but doesn't destroy the material.]
    "Bombakage" Water/Poison Torrent/-
    (HA: Poison Touch)
    [Sits on hind legs like a classic frog. Larger than Greninja, like a fusion of Venusaur and Seismitoad. Has purple~blue skin with bubbles of toxins. Is adept at ninja abilities like Greninja, but prefers to attack with smokescreens, illusions, and toxic darts--rather than Shurikens.]
    With potential Megas (as the Mega Stones appeared after the Ultimate Weapon was fired), the Mega Stones could be found/Obtained by using Hoopa-themed Ring Portals--like the Time-Space Distortions in Arceus.
    You could Obtain the "Modern" Kalos Evolutions/Pokémon the same way as in Arceus, through the Portals, where the Kalos Starters would have Megas that have inspirations/concepts from their "Ancestor" Pokémon.
    Mega Chesnaught would become Steel/Fighting with Bulletproof
    Mega Delphox would become Fairy/Psychic with Pixilate
    Mega Greninja would become Poison/Dark with Protean.
    Combining the attributes, looks, and movesets of BOTH Pokémon would be the way to balance both pairs of Starters--but the Older Pokémon probably wouldn't get Megas, just to keep THAT Trend, of the Kalos main choices not getting Megas--but represented in the other ones.
    You'd also get to Obtain the Older "Hisui" Forms of Avalugg and Sliggoo/Goodra naturally in the old Region, and the newer ones locked to the Hoopa Portals.
    With new Evolutions and Variants, you'd inevitably have new Megas as well--and this would be how you "Unlock" the alternate Megas of Venusaur and Blastoise. Whereas Charizard's Megas would be dubbed "X" and "Y" by your Character or the Boss you report to, you would get to call the different Mega Forms as "A" or "Z"...

    Cinderace would have been better as Fire/Steel or Fire/Ground, making it more defensive like a defensive lineman (or making a reference to gridiron or the helmets/goals with the steel typing). The design is fine but it was literally too easy, and fire/fighting is overused for starters. Intelleon's design is... the head looks weird. Great idea, but you could have gone sheriff instead of outlaw though that's a personal idea. The design is just a tad weird with the head and collar.
    Meowscarada looks very witchy and I kinda like it, though the og design never gave me anything but a magician feel, so the "nobel" aspect is kind of weird. Primarina... great concept but the design just looks too... KISS? It's fine but doesn't look fitting to a banshee to me.
    They're all great ideas though some of the execution was a bit off, IMO. You guys always do so good with these though, and the concepts themselves are dead on what I'd want to see in regional variants.

Also you said you thought the move was really strong but it’s just a much weaker version of Perish Song, which regularly Primarina can learn through breeding. For the Cinderace variant, I was thinking of a Fire-Ground type, not only because of the colors but also because football players oftentimes get muddy during matches, especially when the field is dampened. But considering most football fields are often fake, like fake grass and plastic pellets, and not real grass and ground, I suppose it's fair enough.
    But eh, knowing how most football teams have bitter rivalries that often get certain players in trouble, especially high school football teams, the Fighting type seems well, in my opinion. Even if Fire-Fighting is a bit overused...

    Another thing about the Inteleon variant that makes it work really well is that a lizard in a western cowboy setting isn't exactly something new - we have Rango

    Not gonna lie, while I love what you do here with the starters, the look of the Inteleon variant looks more like a detective than a cowboy. Still these are all good designs even if I wish more of the cat starters stayed on all fours.

    Other people can hate it, but I personally LOVE the Fire/Fighting-type! Not only is it exclusive to starter Pokémon (with the exception of Blaze Breed Tauros), but the type had several advantages in the gym challenges of yesteryear. In my opinion, I think Cinderace should have been a Fire/Fighting-type from the start since it already learns more than a few Fighting-type moves, and the fact that it's associated with sports only reinforces my belief further.

    • @AuraStrikeAce
      @AuraStrikeAce Před 7 měsíci +2

      Fire/Fighting being exclusive to Starters isn't exactly true anymore, since Blaze Breed Paldean Tauros has the typing now. I agree that it's a great type combo, tho.

    You know what might be fun...starters who have typings other than the rut Pokemon has got into with some variation of ghost/dark/psychic/fighting/fairy. Artwork was nice on all of them and solid concepts but yeah, since gen six (excepting gen 8 going back to single typings) every typing is one of those.

    Great video as always! I think my only change I would’ve done is to make the regional Cinderace a Fire/Electric type because not only is it a “charger,” in the way that a football player often charges, but it’s fur looks a lot more like a storm cloud now. It could also learn moves like Volt Tackle, Wild Charge, Interception (but make it electric type) Flare Blitz, or (if you want to get a little dark) head smash, referencing not only the tactics used in football, but how football players often tend to get easily hurt, especially with concussions.

    Excellent ideas dude, especially with Meowscarada, it is already my favorite Gen 9 starter, and I will take Meowscarada with this design and form just like the original ones. Also regarding the Gen 8 starters, Decidueye is a Gen 7 starter and yet it got a reginal variant in Legends Arceus which is a Gen 8 game. So I really don't think that anything stops the Gen 8 starters to get regional forms any time soon.

  • @PokeRiderM

    I believe Cinderace could have gone fire/ground as well. Yea in football they play on grass (fake grass idk) but they’re are many people playing on unofficial turf like in the back yard or park areas. All players are raising dirt as they run around or getting crazy muddy when they play in the rain, but keep going. Just food for thought

    Primarina lowkey resembles the dutch folkore creature “de witte wieven” (translated; the white women) who are spirits sometimes good sometimes evil, made from mist on top of bodies of water, either rivers or lakes. Connected to ghosts and the ‘witte wieven’ share can’t connections with banshees. She could also be an unovan starter, brought over by the pokemon equivalent of the dutch, since theyre known for sailing all across the globe idk

    Intelleon looks great, no complaints. Cinderace is also good, though I feel it lacks something on the forehead like the original, which would have matched the Football helmet theme. I like the design of Meowscarada, and I think a lot of the ideas behind it are very neat, but I think it deviates a bit too much from the original. I think a few too many elements got changed. With variants, I should be able to look at them and say "Oh, that's this Pokémon!" not, "is that supposed to be THIS Pokémon?"
    Primarina might actually be my favorite starter Pokémon, and this variant Primarina is... bland. It doesn't feel like a starter, it feels like a second or third stage Pokémon I'll find in an ice cave late in the game and forget about by the next one. It lacks all the pop colors that help Primarina stand out, you removed all the flowy aspects of the design in exchange for just giving it Gen1 spikes (which would have helped with it being Ghost-Type), Primarina already does the wavy hair thing when attacking (which you illustrated in the stock footage). Getting rid of the natural segmentation its body had really makes this Pokémon just look like a tube with limbs. And I probably have some bias, as I really like the original, but I just really do not like this interpretation at all. I think the concept can work, but this just feels like an over correction on a design you don't like.

    I just thought; is it possible to make a series on possible regional fakes like with toedscool and wiglett? I just has a thought last night about regional fakes of Onix and Steelix where they are actual giant snakes, with new Onix have stone-like skin and not being a bunch of boulders. New Steelix could be a natural giant serpent that grows massive stone-like scale plates on its head and sides going down its body.

    • @andrewmolek5247
      @andrewmolek5247 Před 7 měsíci

      And with the regional fakes having different types than their original counterparts, and both new Onix and Steelix could now be rock/dragon. I thought about it last night and came up with a name for new Steelix; Titanix which is just titanium, another metal, and the -ix part of the evo lines names.
