It’s funny for me to read the comments, the video is a Behemoth video which is a black metal band and the association with Vivaldi which I love I think it’s great! I love the video and music together, the once who don’t likes are not used to with Black Metal .
I also love it…it is itself an amazing work of artistic expression….stunning….but it certainly upsets a few people!

One can choose to interpret the video in many ways. Some will say that the video misrepresents Vivaldi’s intent. Perhaps they are right. But conversely consider instead, that the video decided to tell a story of how things may fall apart….should not Gabriel come and sound the trumpet for the second coming. Perhaps it seeks to show how evil deceives. Perhaps the sounding of the trumpets in the video followed by the waiting wolf signaled the finality of the fall.

Please, do not get the wrong idea from this video. The meaning of the original video is clear as water; it is in the title (Blow your trumpets Gabriel): the second coming of the Lord. We know the Bible does not mention who the trumpeter is, but there have been studies that suggest Gabriel is the one that will sound the Shofar during the second coming of our Lord (McCasland, 1941. Journal of Bible and Religion).
On Vivaldi's Filiae maestae Jerusalem (the suffering daughters of Jerusalem), the lyrics describe the mourning of women of Jerusalem (the ones that were closer to Jesus) after He was crucified.
Then if you combine the visuals of the video, and its implied meaning (i.e., the second coming of Jesus Christ), with the lyrics of Filiae maestae Jerusalem, it makes an interesting juxtaposition of the same religious concept; the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
I know the video has some gory images, but, if you have been to a Christian (Catholic, mainly) church, you know the paintings portrait similar scenes. Also, you know that in these images, the "Lamb" (i.e., Christ, Gospel of John 1:29) is always bleeding, because Jesus Christ sacrifice Himself for our sins.
The Crucifix is a sacrifice. If you go to mass, you know you sing this all the time: "Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem" (Lamb of God, who takes sins of the world, grant us peace". You know that Jesus's sacrifice was not a "ritual", and far less a "satanic ritual" (what ever that means, considering Satan was another angel). If that were the case, when you go to mass, you celebrate a "satanic" ritual during Eucharist.
One of the things that intrigue me about this video (also the original by Behemoth), is that nobody seems to comment about the Christogram JHS (Jesus Hominum Salvator) carved on the pig, followed by Mylius's Sol Niger (black sun), which in summary represents the cycle of life: from putre factio (the separation of soul and body), to incorruptible Gold, which is a another way to represent the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Anyways, no disrespect to religion, or anyone. Just a video full of symbolism that if you know how to interpret, will make you think, and hopefully read something interesting that you did not know.
Good, agree, except that in this video there is not resurrection. Thus the reazon why the doughters are sufffering, they are representing by the the woman. The resurrection is after. regards.
The video is masterfully shot, it's even lyric, but there was no need for all the gore. It really ruins the viewing experience.

Akhenaton RJ ...the video can be interpreted any way you choose. Vivaldi wrote Zephyri Maestae, Jerusalem....as a point in time when nature itself mourns the loss of Jesus. There is no refuge and there are false doors as there as false idols. As nature cries in view of the state of man, it is scary, disturbing and unsettling. This video is intended to make you uncomfortable and to mourn that which you have lost. Be it purity or be it purpose. If you were uncomfortable, then the video created the intended image. Perhaps you were not intended to like it. Perhaps you were intended to hate it....to reject it.
Looks like if that’s the case, it accomplished it’s task, while illustrating the story.

As for the name Akhenaton is not the name of any pagan god. It is the name of the first Egyptian monotheist. He used the sun as a symbol of God and not as God Himself. In the midst of a totally pagan culture, Akhenaton had a divine enlightenment that there is only one God, creator of heaven and earth.

You appear to have very limited understanding of this counter-tenor: Phillipe Jaroussky is at this point a world renowned and respected young operatic singer whose interpretation of this piece is in a word astounding. The images on the screen are startling but then they are supposed to represent the deep transformation of the world upon Christ's death, including natures own lament.

1.5 out 5. 1. Singing is average considering there is nothing really difficult about this aria 2. There were a few mistakes as well unless its just interpretation 3. Video content is not what was implied in original lyrics 4. Satanic style is not appropriate for this context 4. Photography and the way clip is done is the only part worth watching it
Again, you have no idea that this is world class singer, and we do not always need to hear a performance that is difficult to perform...but one that is interpreted with beauty. I have not heard this piece done better than this version.

@@zeroceiling Hi, I provided details why I don't like it :) In our case these man singers have medical disorder not genius voices ... they lack man harmons in their bodies which is ok with me but again it does not make them genius :) Looks at their performances with microphones ... but ask them to sing as man do ... and ooopps they fail ...
