Benedictine Abbey rose garden | June Garden Tour.

In the rose beds you will find mainly historical varieties - i.e. roses that were created before 1867. This was the year when the first modern roses came onto the market - the so-called tea hybrids: a cross between Chinese tea roses and European varieties. They are roses as we know them today: with pointed buds and also in the popular colors red and yellow. Historical roses only come in white, pink and purple. They have a stronger scent, bloom mostly only once a year, but in immense abundance.
Since the founding of our monastery in 1112, the Seitenstetten Abbey in the heart of the Mostviertel has been a meeting place for many people.
