Ellie getting Boris' bow is so symbolic to me. His is a story of blind revenge, in part justifiably so, that ends in his downfall. Ellie's too. The bow is, in my opinion, her signature weapon, together with her knife; it encapsulates her style of fighting: sneaky, but desperate and, with explosive arrows, absurdly violent. It feels like a heirloom inherited from Boris - especially considering the father-daughter bond he had with his deceased daughter, mirroring Ellie and Joel's relationship.
