  • Boys from the Ecole de Joutes de La Marine in Sete, France entertain the
    crowds with a jousting competition on the Royal Canal.
    On 29 July 1666, the town held its first jousting tournament in the harbour. Since then, these very popular tournaments have taken place throughout the summer between two bridges, the Pont de la Savonnerie and the Pont de la Civette.
    Two boats, the 'red boat' and the 'blue boat', propelled by 10 oarsmen, challenge one another to the sound of oboes and drums. Dressed in white, and armed with a shield and a lance, every jouster has been chasing the same dream since
