      Russia's whole strategy has been one of a "meat grinder" tactic. They haven't changed this since WWII. They just keep sending people because they have a lot. We see them being decimated in Ukraine, yet they keep sending them. And, just as we saw during the first invasion of Iraq, America's war machines outperform what Russia has. So Russia continues with what it knows how to do - keep sending more and more people.

      in your example, what if France was part of Italy for last 300 years and managed to get independent only in last 30 years, and after that managed to make revolution and get completly unlegal antitalian goverment which started persecution of all italians, which leaded to a civil war? Including the fact that 30% of french population were italians. So Italy had to ignore an anti italian civil near its border? Also new French goverment kept declaring that they would like to join anti italian war alliance and use nuclear bomb on Italy. And after Italy begged them not to do it for many years, tried to solve it diplomaticaly for years, and also was guarantee of peace pact which France broke, and after France brought a big army to Italian border, was it ok to attack France?

    • @axelv1753
      @axelv1753 Před 3 měsíci

      @@mitanni0 Sure but one reasonable interpretation of this is that evil means very egoistic and good means reasonably taking other people into account. The thing is that what the russians are doing and the nazis did is not making their lives better on the cost of making others lives worse (evil) it is just making all lives worse (except putin - yes he is egoist/evil, he wants to look like a successful leader in the history books). What the russian people are doing is making ALL lives worse, their own AND others. And as usual it is all based on a psychotic way of thinking, a delusion of the same type as religion. It is based on an idea of a non-existent entity: the power of the nation. Just a theoretical construct of no meaning for the quality of human lives.
      As Sam Harris showed in his excellent TED-talk there is a biological/science base for morality. Why are so many humans receptible for completely lunatic ideas of how to lead a good life? religion, nationalism and socialism are all ideas that catch the people with too much affinity for theories. What is needed is the liberation of minds all over the world from the influence of all these psychotic ideas. That is the only big struggle for mankind worth fighting the next few hundred years until we are globally more rational. Right now the war in Ukraine is the epicenter of this battle!

    5:08 "If we hadn't invaded Ukraine, Europe would've already invaded us. Europe would have attacked us!" - Make it make sense! (1) If that were the case, why has "Europe" not invaded while Russia is fully committed in Ukraine? I hear that Russia barely has any defence at their European borders, at Finland and the Baltic countries. There didn't seem to be much in the way of Prighozin and Wagner when he was advancing on Moscow. (2) Russia has an extensive nuclear arsenal at their disposal, as if we had forgotten, since their last and previously frequent nuclear 'sabre-rattling'. So they could _easily_ deter any invasion. Not one of the European countries would risk their capitals, or the rest of their countries and populations for that matter. Russians, nobody in Europe wants to invade you, if there were any, they would be not right in the head. Europeans want peace. Why would they want to invade?

    A common sentiment I keep hearing is, " Ukraine is historically Russia and most people there speak russian & we're all Slavs". Are they aware of soviet history who forced everyone to speak russian?. Are they aware how many countries in the world speak English but are not British?. Same for french and Spanish. Are they aware that the Kievan Rus existed for 800 years before the formation of moscovia?. Are they aware that the name Rus has it's origins in Scandinavian vikings?. Are they aware that the name Russia wasn't used until the late 18th century & before that was known as Moscovia?. Are they aware that Ukrainian aren't actually Slavs, but in fact Cossacks?.
    History being taught in Russia today is little more than made up fairy tales with no basis in historical fact.
    Some day Russians are going to dealing with a severe case of PTSD when they actually discover the truth and how badly Putin has lied to them.

      You're talking complete nonsense. There was no such state as Kievan Rus, this is a term coined by historians. There was just Rus, and the Russian nation was formed not only from Slavs, but also Finno-Ugric and other northern peoples. Russia has never been called Muscovy, Muscovy is a Polish term that arose for political reasons. The continuity of Rus and Russia is proved very simply, this is the dynastic line of the Rurikovich, who ruled the country. I'm not talking about the Cossacks at all, they are not an ethnic group, but a seeded social caste that lived according to its own way of life, and always perceived itself as Russian people.

      yes, its very said, painful. Its inconceivable. I am very greatful to Daniel that he shows all world who are russian people and how they think. In fact, when i was in summer in Moscow, most of them were very nice, but as soon as you speak about politics and Ukraine - words like "murdering each of ukrainian and even their children, going with war further to Baltic Countries Poland ) and who know s - the all Europe. In Russia they have song and poetry - "i go to Berlin, and see Russian flag- its all Russia, i go to Egypt - and its wonderfully to be in Russian land, i am in France, o, dear Russia in France - i love you so much. I am in Portugal - and now its also russian - thats so great. My country is great! " Then there are another one "From Lissabon to Vladivostok - its all dear great Russia" - they want to conquer all of Europe and bring down America as they are so jelous of USA and Europe.

    While learning history I never understood how was it possible that Germans turned such a horrible nation that just started killing people on an industrial scale. I guess few could, but how could the whole nation was mindboggling. Now I see the same story unfolding in Russia. Unbelievable how we, humans do not really learn from our history and over and over repeat the darkest hours of humankind.

      We only need one psychopathic leader, and voilà! The Milgram experiment is perhaps the best example of how people are susceptible to obeying higher authority, even if it means that doing so will inflict pain. The Third Wave experiment was also very good at pointing out how people could accept the actions of the Nazi regime... But It always start with a psychopath leader.

      Impossible for the russians to learn from history, they never did their "work" after WWII, never accepted the sad reality, their alliance with the nazis to invade Poland, the pogroms, etc... They live since 50 years in the denial of history and that is the fundamental reason why we are here now.

      nazi propaganda did a stellar job back then using new technology like radios to poison the minds. everything else like newspapers was forced into line too. normal people had no way to escape the misinformation. combine that with just a few years of living in a modern democracy while economic conditions were much worse compared to pre-war times due to the unfair provisions in the treaty of Versailles and the critical thinking to reject nazi ideology simply wasn't there.
      did you spot any similarities with relatively recent ruzzian history?

      @@RikPol If you genuinely think Europe would have invaded Russia you are plain and simple delusional and I'm sorry for you.
      Not only is the statement impossible as Europe is a continent that does not have a centralised army but the millitary alliance that some European countries belong to actively took steps to prevent an escalation even after Putin's invasion. We were so passed over the conquest and colonialist phase that the unprovoked Russian invasion of Ukraine served as a cold shower to ramp up munition production to be able to support Ukraine. Don't you think if "Europe" prepared to invade Russia we would have sent troops on the ground after pootler invaded ?! Just as a reminder, Europe's GDP is 13-14 times that of Russia and the combined number of professionaly trained soldiers of all the NATO countries exceeds the number of Russian mobiks sent to death up to this point + the russian professional army and that is on top of the shockingly huge technological advantages NATO has. If NATO would enter this it's game-over for Russia. Either that or a nuke exchange that would result in 20 million Russian civilians dead and between 4 to 6 million Europeans or Americans within the first hour of a nuke exchange due to MAD ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction ) .
