    Awesome seedlings Ana!!! And some spicy ones at that!!! Haha! Love the new aloe hybrids!! I've never crossed aloes before. It's amazing how fast they grow!! My two year old Aloe ferox is 8 inches wide!! Your flowers are beautiful as always!!! I have the solution to the Euphorbia seedlings being tall. If you start them without cover, and exposed to full light( indoor grow light) they will be much stouter and a third of that height. Euphorbias are just different than what we think of as starting cactus seed. Try next time without cover. These plants are adventurous. Two of my most prized Euphorbias started this way. Pow!!! And flung into another pot across the benches in the greenhouse. My zigzag & enigma started by them selves in the pot of a cactus somewhere!! Just keep the soil moist, not wet, and they will sprout and be fine. Just watch them so they don't completely dry out. But truth be known, the ones that started themselves dried out from time to time in those cactus pots and did fine!! Thanks for the shout out!!
    Your flowers look absolutely beautiful as always!!! All your seedlings and plants look so healthy under the lights!!! I can't wait to see these new hybrids grow!!! Oh the possibilities!! What color, what markings?!! Great work Ana!!! And no one else in the world has one!!! Thanks for sharing Ana!!! From Morris park in the Ozarks , out to Las Vegas have a great week ahead!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌴🌷🌳🌸🌲🌼🌱😀👍

    It was lovely to see how all the different young cactus, seedlings and degrafted ones etc are all doing, very good update, I like those Astrophytum seedlings! I love the Euphorbia, I said to Clyde I am looking forward to trying out Euphorbia from seed, they just look so cute when they grow... and wow unbelievable to hear of the high heat you're going through, at least you don't have the high humidity to contend with aswell, which does always happen in our UK climate, nasty at times too, take care Ana 😊😄🌵🌞🌵🌞🌵👍

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, you should try sowing Euphorbia seeds. They seem to grow faster than cactus seedlings. It is a good experience. But just make sure your seeds are fresh because as Clyde said, they have a short shelf life. Thanks for your support, Claire!

    Thanks for the info about the bug spray - things are getting pretty desperate here. I have the yellow sticky traps and the mosquito bits in all of my cacti and houseplants, and I just got an indoor insect trap (Katchy). And I'm being obsessively careful about watering so I don't have wet soil or standing water. Somehow there are still gnats everywhere! 😣

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety +1

      I also have the yellow sticky traps. Those work well for the adult gnats. Also try increasing your air circulation. Gnats like it when the air does not move. Good luck! 😉

    Hi i have just have to replace all the soil in my seedlings as my soil for some reason has not absorb water and some of the baby have shrunk so i am replacement the soil and report them all as i have around 70 trays of seeds to repot but the ones that i have done a few days ago are starting to look better i did the worst of them first, they were a bit red looking but hope they will return to green again kaye

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety

      Wow, 70 trays of seedlings?! You are going to be busy if you have to repot them. Though I find it relaxing. ☺️ Good luck. Keep the ones that are red under less light. I find that they don’t grow while they are red.

  • @claudekim7876
    @claudekim7876 Před 2 lety +2

    Euphorbias need alot of light during germination i find. But irregardless they grow at the same speed either long or short.
    Also for gnats. I would highly recommend use BTK (mosquito dunks preditory bacteria) and its 100% safe and is originally made for bird baths. It kills all the larve in 1 to 2 weeks max

  • @cc31952
    @cc31952 Před 2 lety +3

    What is your best recommended watering method? I tend to overwater, now kinda afraid to do anything. Thinking of using eye dropper so as not to get water too close to base. I have cacti and succulents.

    • @Blackheathenly
      @Blackheathenly Před 2 lety

      Just remember, it's easier to bring back a thirsty succulent than revive a rotting one.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety +1

      @cc31952, for me there is no one right way to water. I do overhead watering because I have a lot of pots. If you tend to overwater, I suggest that you use a pot that is porous like terracotta pots. Your soil will dry out faster in them. Also make sure your soil mix has more inorganic than organic materials. I water when the soil is dry. If you are having a hard time determining if they need water, you can also use a moisture meter. Hope this helps. 🙂

  • @azulgally
    @azulgally Před 2 lety +1

    Have you ever used hydrogen peroxide on your seedlings? I think it's wonderful to fight fungi and the best way to get away of the rot

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, I use it diluted with water whenever I get fungus on my soil. ☺️ It works great!

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  Před 2 lety +1

      To get thicker spines, kailangan more sun exposure. Pero yung watering, depends kung maulan. Once a week may be too much ngayon diyan. Just observe it and water when it starts to shrivel a bit. You can water more during summer.
