what I was thinking
Yes spot on
Nothing sounds more peaceful! 🌈💕🌻
as I picture it💓
"I love you to the moon and the Saturn" is it just me or have anybody notice this lyrics. ( Saturn has seven distinctive rings, and the title of the song is SEVEN) she's literally a genius.
Also, this is the seventh track from folklore.
AHHHHHHH
Thanks for noticing, I was wondering!!❤
Also, the seventh day of the week is Saturday, which is derived from Saturn. That's why, it's one of the main elements of the song.

A childhood friend of mine was murdered by her boyfriend this year. This song takes me back to being seven with her, playing in the trees without a care in the world. May she rest in peace
Oh my gosh sis Rest In Peace to your friend, so sorry for your loss.
May your friend rest in peace 🕊️ we're so sorry for your loss
🫂❤️
Sending hugs
may your friend rest in peace. i am so sorry for your loss. sending you love 🤲🤍
this song is the unsent letter you write to the childhood friend you don't talk to anymore, but you remember all of a sudden as you look at old pictures, thinking about how everything used to be a fantasy world when you're young and innocent
I still miss her. 😞
this
I believe she didn't even have pictures with her friend, since she said she can't remember her face. All she has is memories of the time they've spent together
wow this hits home, i wonder how these friends are doing now, i don't even know how i could contact them wow
Ysabel Ignacio it’s my favourite song on the album. It’s so somber and tragic. It’s like a short story put to music
no but seriously this part "i've been meaning to tell you i think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why, and i think you should come live with me and we can be pirates, then you won't have to cry or hide in the closet" got me crying, it just hits way too close to home :(
😔🤗💐❤️
awww me to tc everyone
Arrrggghhh
"or hide in the closet" hits hard...
ikr hit me right in the feels
Today at 32 years old I discovered Taylor here, this song. I am bawling my eyes out. My house was one of the haunted ones.
same here😢
Does anyone else imagine singing this to their child selves? This song feels like a bitter sweet hug to your inner child. Child me I hope you know you didn’t do anything wrong, it’s not your fault you had the world on your shoulders
❤
same. I imagine this song being dedicated to our younger selves
@@daniela7603 love that ☺️🩷
I actually imagine that it’s my child self singing to this grown-up me
yes i cry
the line “i think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why” always hurts me. i didn’t grow up in an abusive house, but the innocence of not knowing why a parent is mad all the time hurts no matter what
When I listen to Taylor sing the lyrics, I kind of just offhand heard it as the dad must be mad because of the influence of the haunted house on him but reading your reply, it really does come across like it's his anger that actually haunts the house. And yeah, that's a chillingly relatable feeling for some.
@rose petal, as i said, that was my initial assumption but I think it works on both levels, which I hadn't thought of until the op's comment.
same with me. I didn't grow up in a abusive house (i'm so grateful for that). and you perfectly put what I felt, in a sentence. I think I can also kinda relate from Taylor's perspective cause growing up, I had a friend who had parents that would argue with each other every now and then and her and i would just hang out and play at my place. Just today I had the album playing while i was putting on makeup and when this lyric came up my eyes started watering. I think I'll always get teary eyed when it comes up.
Danya.Jayne i cannot agree more. mine wasnt exactly a physically abusive household, but it was emotionally draining and abusive.
Unfortunately, I understand that so very much 🥺
this whole album feels like therapy

"Sweet tea in the summer" this line brings me so manny chills i swear you have no idea how much
Please picture me

I hit my peak at seven feet
In the swing
Over the creek
I was too scared to jump in
But I, I was high in the sky
With Pennsylvania under me
Are there still beautiful things?
Sweet tea in the summer
Cross your heart, won't tell no other
And though I can't recall your face
I still got love for you
Your braids like a pattern
Love you to the moon and to Saturn
Passed down like folk songs
The love lasts so long
And I've been meaning to tell you
I think your house is haunted
Your dad is always mad and that must be why
And I think you should come live with

Then you won't have to cry
Or hide in the closet

I feel like her new album is all sad and emotional and heart breaking. 😭 recently lost someone I love so it kind pulls on my heart a bit

It reminds me of tied together with a smile in her debut album

This song actually describes tara and Darcy though-
I read in a blog just a few days ago something like: "With 'Folklore', Swift achieved something pretty unlikely for most of popstars; she kept her old-loyal fanbase, she caught and mesmerized her haters and made the ones who wouldn' t notice her turn to see her, all in just one move". I definitely agree! I was in the third group but not anymore, I guess. These songs are simply beautiful!
I agree I thought she was a cliche artist but i liked her songs after listening to folklore I became a fan and listened to reputation for the first time and honestly one of the best albums in history. I really get why people love her so much and I'm definitely a fan for life.

the best folklore song.
i listen to this song and think of my primary school best friend, who grew up in an abusive household and confided in me about it when we were about 10 years old. i remember feeling so helpless to her situation and wishing to just take her home with me. we somehow lost touch after going to different high schools, and sat here now i even struggle to remember her name. but i hope she’s out there thriving somewhere. i miss you and i wish we could have stayed together for longer

I LOVE SEVEN
This song reminds me of a story of my own. I had a best friend that I met in 2nd grade. We became friends because we were assigned rocks to create a house for (weird 90's American stuff, I guess). Her home life wasn't great, but she had a great spirit. Soon we found out our grandparents were best friends, and our families knew each other very well. Both our grandparents owned cabins in upstate New York in the same county and then we found out our cabins were nearly half a mile from each other. We spent so many amazing summers up there together, watching fireworks, eating amazing food and fishing. Unfortunately, she passed away ten years ago, but I'll always remember those days when we were 13. I love you, Chereen April.
I’m sorry for your loss. But that’s a beautiful friendship you guys had
I just can't explain how the verse "are there still beautiful things?" moves me so much

Thank you Heartstopper for showing everyone this song
i had a traumatic childhood growing up, yet i never really realized it until a couple years ago. this song, in my interpretation, is between seven year old me and me now. swings, sweet tea summer, braids, dolls, playing in the trees and weeds, and creeks were a huge part of my childhood, they were things that i loved. although my memory is fuzzy, and my childhood is a blur, i still love my younger self with everything in me, and i miss her more than anything. the bridge is something i feel like my younger self would say to present me. she wouldn’t understand the trauma i have been put through, and she would just want to play to make me happy. this song is criminally underrated. it’s so nostalgic, sad, sweet, and beautiful. my favorite song off of folklore.
this is such a beautiful interpretation of it, thank you for sharing this really hit home
"please picture me in the weeds before I learned civility"
I'm taking Literature right now and honestly, my teacher would probably wet himself because of how awesome and compact this one line is. Weeds are wild and she wants to be remembered when she was in that state (that could be compared to a child- which basically ties in with this song) instead of her when she's an adult- "before I learned civility"; "I hit my peak at seven"
I c u everywhere...
It’s actually before i learned civility i used to scream ferociously
following line with "passed down like folk songs, our love lasts so long" makes it more clear that she misses the world when she was young.
and it goes "I used to scream ferociously, everytime I wanted"
The line is so powerful, unique and from a person who is in love with Literature to another, I feel your teacher. Swift is one of the greatest lyricists of this century.

GUYS the lines “Please picture me in the weeds, before i learned civility. I used to scream ferociously, anytime i wanted.” hit TOO hard.
Wat does it mean
@@krubaap6257 i think it essentially means she wants the person to whom she's singing to remember how she was during what she considered the best and brightest time of her life, before she learned how to behave properly and pushed away things that were considered childish or ridiculous, such as playing in grass or yelling without thinking too much of it.
this reminded me so much of Women Who Run with the Wolves! “Though her soul requires seeing, the culture around her requires sightlessness. Though her soul wishes to speak its truth, she is pressured to be silent.”

Been a longtime Taylor fan… I love all her songs and albums, don’t get me wrong, but for the past few years there wasn’t one that particularly settled in my heart like the songs from folklore did. But this one in particular... What a funny coincidence this song is titled my favorite number. For those who didn't know, this song is about one of Taylor’s childhood friends who seemed to have an unhappy life at home. Taylor reflects back on her innocence back then, how she thought the problems could be easily solved.

She said on instagram that this album is all about random characters that she came up with and wrote songs about, hence why the album's called folklore
I love how after all these years people still talk about folklore and evermore songs, different perspectives and meanings behind them. Taylor Swift is a genius she literally created folklores for people to remember, discuss and appreciate for the time to come 🥹
After all these years? It's only been a couple of years (2,5 for Folklore). You make it sound as if they are a decade old or something but are fairly recent.

i cannot describe how this song makes me feel, this entire album is incredible. i love how the song brings this feeling of innocence but also childhood trauma and wanting to escape, it’s genuinely so beautiful and the instrumental is everything.
This song is so comforting even though the meaning is dark
Just take it SLOW. 😊
"This song is about one of Taylor’s childhood friends who seemed to have an unhappy life at home. Taylor reflects back on her innocence back then, how she thought the problems could be easily solved."
Thank you I was looking for a comment like this. But why is it in quotes? Just asking who said this :)
