MOVE OVER Wild Blue Gondola As BIG SKY AGAIN OVERTAKES ALL US Ski Resorts With The WORLDS LONGEST 8 PACK Chairlift. A new lift is coming to Lone Mountain's north side-the resort’s second eight-place and third state-of-the-art D-line chairlift will be replacing the existing Six-Shooter lift in the summer of 2024. The lift will be running starting December 2024.
The new eight-place lift will effectively double the uphill capacity while reducing ride time, offering guests swift and comfortable access to Big Sky Resort’s north side terrain from the Madison Base Area. This lift will also set a new record globally as the longest eight-place installation in the world. The new chairlift will be nearly double the uphill capacity compared to its predecessor, as it will carry up to 2,745 guests per hour. It will also be super fast, with a ride time of eight minutes. The chairs themselves will be super wide and comfortable, with heated seats and individual headrests. The automatically locking safety bars will automatically lower and then rise up at the end of the journey.
The bottom terminal will move down around forty feet from its current location to allow for more queuing space. Other than that, the new chairlift’s alignment will remain the same, dropping off at the same spot. This length will make the longest eight-person chairlift on the planet.
