The last two episodes did not feel like TWD, more of a audition for their own movie career dreams.

You nailed it, I completely agree. We were originally supposed to get a Rick CRM story. Plans changed and Gimple gave us a Rick and Michonne love story inside the CRM. That took away from a lot of the CRM/Beale storyline so when Beale and the CRM were defeated alot of us felt short changed. The Rick and Michonne story we got was great it just ended up being something completely different than we were expecting. Especially considering the CRM/Beale were wrapped up in the finale it really made me feel we didn't get enough story to earn that. Gimple said he had a whole dif story in mind before it became a Rick and Michonnes story. I love Michonne but I can't help but wonder what the show would have been originally and if the CRM storyline would have even ended at the finale? Sadly we'll never no

I think the major turning point in the show was in episode 5, when Father Gabriel showed up. I thought he was gonna be looking for Jadis and then find Rick and Michonne. And then they would go back to Alexandria, there would be the big reunion, and the series would end with the CRM en route to track them down. Which would set up the big crossover finale. But I guess they went another direction.

I don't think it ruined it, like with Game of Thrones, but I definately think it was rushed. There needed to be at least a couple more episodes at the Commonwealth/ Alexandria and a reunion between a few of the main cast, perhaps with a cliff hanger ending, such as a dissident CRM groupd being shown appearing on the outskirts, or a horde of variants.

It seems like they sort of forgot television is capable of extended episodes, Walking Dead used to have 90 minute episodes a couple times A season, Game of Thrones also has episodes that are 1 hour and 20 minutes long and this finale should have at least been an hour and 15 minutes without commercials Heck if you're only having a six episode season make them all extended episodes you could achieve a lot moređŸ€·â€â™‚ïž

I don’t know that they could have done it differently though, considering that the flagship series had ended. The TWD “story” is largely over and now we’re getting supplemental material. The only thing I think they could have done to offset that would have been to make dismantling rhe CRM the main focus of the series finale.

The number of episodes was the problem from the start. When I saw this series announced as a 6-episode limited run, my immediate thought was "how??"
I feel like they did as much as they possibly could've done in 6 episodes. But why was it 6? Why didn't they want the CRM to continue as the mighty villain they hyped for years? It's just really confusing.
Also there are some similarities to GOT season 8 mainly in the sense that it was 6 episodes as well and felt massively rushed. I'd say the only key difference is that the main cast was not character assassinated. We didn't have a Danerys going crazy or ridiculous plot shit happening for convenience, it was more just it being rushed. Idk why networks/producers do this shit. Why build something up and give yourself a universe cushion and then axe it??

Nah bruh. All the youtubers and fan theories and overhyping ruined it for a lot of people. I watched this show with my girlfriend who doesn't keep up with any CZcams or online discourse and when Beale was killed and the CRM was taken down she did not once say it felt "rushed" or she wanted more from Beale. She took it for what it was. No overhyping or crazy theories. She cared about what the show made you care about. Rick and Michonne.

I don't know what show you was watching, but TOWL was amazing from the acting to the writing. Character driven show and I don't get why people are mad about fans getting a happy ending. The writers had to get everything done in 6 episodes and they did a great job. AMC wasn't going to give them more episodes. All the spin offs had six. But TOWL ended up being the highest rating of all 3 and some fans are not happy about that. Rick and Michonne have a lot of fans and Richonne together just rocks! Fans have been waiting for this for over 6 years, so Thanks to Gimple, Danai, and Andy for making it happen.

Even if the story was a “Rick and Michoone love story”, you have to remember what universe it’s set it. It’s not (or atleast originally was) a place where “love defeats all”. It was a gritty harsh unforgiving world that pushed one to their limits mentally and physically. In TOWL, it wasn’t that. From
The very first episode. Rick and Michoone meeting like that threw me off. Like in a world as big as they are in, they met in the most plot convenience way. Nothing was really earned in the series. Yes they showed us how long it took for them to get together, but for us it was in the same episode. I honestly checked out early on (episode 2) because it felt like a “here, damn” series. Like there really wasn’t a story to be told, they just gave it to us for fan service. Which I personally don’t like. Plus the finale sucks. Me personally, I can’t rewatch a show if it ends trash. AOT is probably 95 percent perfection. Before the ending Id rewatch clips over and over because of how much I loved it. After the ending, I can’t even bear to see any of the characters faces. Rewatching anything from it would remind me that itd all be worthless in the end due to the ending. Same thing for TOWL. Knowing it ends the way it does just puts me off of it.

In retrospect, I think the finale's problems could still be solved. The story between Rick and Michonne was told properly, and the only problem was the quick resolution of the CRM conflict. But everything they skipped could still be told in detail: in another show, from the point of view of another character. For example, there could be a Tales of the Walking Dead episode detailing the CRM downfall.

I think it’s harsh to say episode 5&6 ruined this series bc as you said the first 4 episodes were incredible. I just wish they had 8-12 episodes to do a proper conclusion. I also wouldn’t say I hated last 2 episodes, over as lol the pros outweigh the cons for the series so that means not ruined just a bit tainted

  • @Red9Suplex
    @Red9Suplex Pƙed 25 dny +1

I commented something similar to this on a different video but I like discussing this stuff so whatever - It's annoying that the CRM aren't the big bad we expected them to be. I really felt over the years that they were gonna be this gigantic, powerful, near unstoppable end game force that brings everyone, everywhere together for one epic and grand conclusion with a lot of cool stuff tied in like Walker experiments, destroying other groups and Beale's spies. It feels weird and disappointing that the colossal shadow that was the CRM that were always looming over in the background for so long with ties to the beginning of the apocalypse is just gone already with not much to note for the organization itself and especially Beale. I really thought that they would tie into all the spin offs and that would result one big spin off bringing Dead City with Negan's army, Daryl and his France group, the Commonwealth, Morgan and maybe even the World Beyond cast together to take them on. It all just lined up and made sense, it all pieced together perfectly and made for such an incredibly worthwhile opportunity for The Walking Dead Universe that could both please the fans and be beneficial for AMC and for whatever reason they just didn't go that route. It all feels really bizarre to me. With all that being said, does it ruin the TWDU for me? I think it puts a pretty big dent in it, similar to how I felt about Carl's death, but it doesn't ruin it. I think if they really try, they COULD turn it around and make something great out of Rick and the group helping lead the Civic Republic / a new CRM possibly under Rick at the top. If they tied Genet and the variant walkers into it too, it could pay off and slightly make up for it.

It is kinda sad. CRM was in all these Shows. Beale was teased as a Thanos villian guy for this franchise and after 6 years of waiting everything ended after only 6 Episodes and Beale just died after 4 Episodes of short screentime.
Rick was kinda stupid sometimes and everything just went to easy for them. Michonne came in and in the same Episode they escape. Not even time explore the CRM with them. Episode 5 +6 also had this corny dialog that is simular to Fear the Walking Dead.
CRM dosen't feel that Big of a villian anymore. CRM should be the last villian that everyone fights in a Crossover show and then a Rick vs Beale fight. Daryl should see CRM connections in France and Maggie and Negan in New York at some point where it all leads to this Avengers Endgame Show.
But CRM is done. "Thanos" is dead so what now? Again CRM? Something else like the PPP thing? There never will be somehing more epic then this CRM with John Locke 😭 and telling the CRM story again feels also wrong like "Somehow the CRM is the bad guy again".
Idk. Rick vs CRM should be 3 Seasons long with Morgan joining in S2 and after S3 the big Showdown happens in the last war. But this? Idk

Before I watch, here’s where I stand. The first couple episodes started out strong. Rick tried to escape. Realized he couldn’t, and accepted his fate. He tried to do what he could from within. That’s progress. He did that for YEARS. just to suddenly flip on a dime and kill at least a few people he had to have considered friends during those years because his wife couldn’t see another way? Fuck no. That’s not how people work. If somebody argued with me and had the same conversation and same argument 5 times back to back, if we’re on opposite sides, and there’s no give and take, them yelling at me some more isn’t going to change my mind. It’s going to strengthen my plan and my perspective on the matter. But nahhhh rick got laid one good time and decided to hell with the path he had set on. He was a prisoner at first. Sure. But I guarantee you, you spend enough time hanging out with the devil, and doing his dirty work, eventually you’ll start to get accustomed to it. It’s the entire idea behind indoctrination. Once you’re in the mud, you dont necessarily want to get it off. You want to see it through to the end. Plus, the crm being basically just one big group of national guard soldiers is
really disappointing. It was a lot of people, yeah, but for military, that was nothing. It was national guard, so that means it won’t be as big, I get it
but the image in my head wasn’t a bunch of weekend warriors with a plan. (No offense to any national guard. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with you or what you do, it’s really just that I can’t find a good way to explain how underwhelming they seemed compared to what they made it out to be.) I expected layers, countless people, experiments, etc. and we got like 20 dudes and a pipe dream. It’s like if all you had to do to defeat a viltrumite was push a button on their back.
