  • Hello and welcome to SOUTHEND AVIATION!
    Today I witnessed my first A320NEO up close start up! I'm genuinely surprised once again how loud this was! The fuel kicking in creates a loud, low pitched bass noise similar to that of the GE90! Enjoy!

    Definitely sounds almost to a GE-90 on a 777-300ER.

      Not quite ;) the PW4000s on the A330 and 767 etc can take a while to reach idle... Few videos on YT, worth a watch.

      @@SOUTHENDAVIATION They were quite tame by comparison ! The earlier DC9 were a bit louder, though they shared engine commonality with the 737/200. There are a couple of vids on here of a 1-11 starting up, if you search robin pinnock, you should be able to see and hear that.

    I flew on the A320NEO for the first time on Tuesday, going from Amsterdam to Southend after a day trip at the Dutch capital. Was expecting an A319, but was very pleasantly surprised when the A320NEO pulled into the gate at Schiphol! As soon as I boarded it, I already fell in love with it! Nice new slimline seats, the unique sound of the A320NEO, the brilliant acceleration down the runway at Schiphol and the very quick climb out of the runway! Before I knew it, we were already through the clouds and near cruising altitude.

    It seems with the modern high bypass engines the startup is quite loud. especially the 787 if you sit next to the wing, but the take off is a bit too quiet on them,however the reverse thrust can also be very powerful loud when used

    Fantastic video! I love the sound, but I also think the changing color of the exhaust cone as the engine lights off and heats up the metal is interesting. You can see it go from a brassy color to a darker shade, turning various shades of brown and purple until the thing is at idle. Most visible when the second engine starts.

    • @SOUTHENDAVIATION
      @SOUTHENDAVIATION  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks! Yes it's cool to watch! You this a lot on the 787's engine tail cone it's more of a dark blue colour. From all the oils, burning fuels and chemicles I suppose.

    Programmes may be joint but designs are driven by GE. The only way GE could sell to the Airbus was to make it attraktive to the French. Now GE has pulled back to focus on the large fan side of the business. The GE target is to strange RR business streak.

    When Easyjet buys British engines I will fly a Britsh based airline. Why so focused on a French copy of a US GE engine. Spend your money where it is earned.
