      Out of curiosity, how did the wreath store? I feel like it would get smushed beyond fixing. That is what has stopped me from trying it out.

      I have stored my wreaths in a cabinet where nothing is on top of it. I did mail one to a family member in a padded envelope from the post office and was told it was still perfect when it arrived. I haven't seen it since they received it so I can't say if it was ok or really not. @@helenklimeck-jones4024

    So funny that I checked my "to do" list and on it was - fabric selection to start my Christmas Wreaths. I made several over the past year including some Easter themed ones and gave them as gifts with a decorative jar or foil wrapped Easter eggs to be placed in the centre.
    I never had a pattern but was helped by the owner of a local quilt shop who had made one
    years before. I have since purchased the pattern (which I was not able to get in Canada originally in time) as well as the B forms which I will finally try. Excellent tutorial and great tip on joining the squares beginning at the fold vs. the end. Thank you.

    Great tutorial. I've made a few of these & used my zigzag stitch to attach the folds. I widened my stitch as far as it would go & sewed off the edge onto water soluble stabilizer. That way when I opened up the folds there was just enough thread to pull them apart so the just "kissed". Practice first. 🙂

    Hi Jen, loved your video so much but was a little apprehensive about trying this beautiful project--but I had to try. It turned out "ok" but totally my fault. Just remember when you read about my wreath that I am totally new at this crafting process. I forgot to remove the paper backing from the applique fabric before I sewed it on with a zig-zag stitch. OhMyGoodness! But I'm trying one more time to see if I can follow directions--all of them.

    Thank you for enhancing the pattern with this video. I have one question, and it's something I suspect I should have learned years ago: how did you do the thread thing so there wasn't a knot? I watched that section several times and didn't quite get how it's done. Is there another video where you show how to do this? Many thanks!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  Před rokem

      Hi Margaret - in timestamp 27:27 of the video, you should be able to see the loop Jen is referring to. She looped her thread before putting it on the needle. When she puts her needle through the fabric, she leaves the loop sticking out on the other side, then reaches the needle backward to catch the loop. Hope this helps! If you'd like a better visual, please send us a direct message via Facebook or Instagram and I'll be happy to help you :) -Michelle

    You could drop the feed dogs to keep the fabric from traveling. Also, although I have not made this project yet so I don't know how "wide" that gap is between the points you're trying to sew together, could it fit over the free arm like a sleeve, which would allow the two points to lay flat and that zig-zag tack could be placed exactly where it needs to be and lay flat and smooth? Just a couple of thoughts as I watched you making this. Thank you for the video!

    I am really interested in making these as they are gorgeous. My question is...
    How well would these store ( space wise?) Would they bounce back to shape if flattened down for the season.
    Cheers from Australia

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  Před 2 lety

      We are happy you enjoy these delightful wreaths. The Bosal In-R Form we use in these helps the wreath maintain their shape. Some people store these in wreath containers as to not flatten them. We have not performed flattening tests on these wreaths, but you may find more successful answers in our Shabby Fabrics Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/shabbyfabricsquiltersgroup/ -Michelle

    Ty sooo much! Can you do a tutorial showing how you set up your needle and thread so you don't have a beginning knot? I understand that you looped the thread, but how are the raw ends of the thread situated when you are starting out?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  Před 2 lety

      Hi WeQuilt! The raw ends of the thread were untied when we connected the corners together. Utilizing the loop stabilizes the end, but without the knot. You can choose to tuck the ends in under your stitches. Hope that makes sense! -Michelle

    • @nancy9478
      @nancy9478 Před 2 lety

      Feed the threaded needle into the square and out at the tip, pull just till the end disappears. Sew as usual, and reverse the process, insert the needle at the tip and come out about and inch away, tug gently and snip the thread carefully. This will hide the thread ends in the square.

    Great tutorial! I started one last year and just picked it up to finish for my Thanksgiving table. My machine is not cooperating with the zipzag stitch so I’m on the last step to hand sew them closed. I’m slightly confused though how to create the “loop” to start the hand sewing- where do you place the knot?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  Před 2 lety

      Hi Dalesha Bowman! We are glad you enjoy this project. The connecting technique that Jen demonstrated in this project does not include a beginning knot. The raw ends of the thread were untied when we connected the corners together. Utilizing the loop stabilizes the end, but without the knot. You can choose to tuck the ends in under your stitches. Hope that makes sense! -Michelle

    • @nancy9478
      @nancy9478 Před 2 lety

      You can insert the needle an inch or so from the tip and feed it up to and out of the tip, pull thru carefully so the end is hidden inside the square, then sew the tip together. When done, feed the needle thru and out again, tug a little and carefully snip the thread. Both ends will be hidden inside the square.

    Great tutorial! Not sure if I did something wrong, but when finished with the wreath, the “inside” of the “flutes”, the squares with the foam are sort of wrinkled.....or the fabric does not lay flat. Also, when hanging, it does not lay flat against the surface. It bows out from the surface.....does yours have some sort of “tacking” to keep it flat ? That’s about the only thing I can think of doing. Any suggestions? It was fun making it!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  Před 2 lety

      We are glad that you enjoy this fun project. To answer your questions, yes, the foam will slightly gather/crease when the points are folded together. If you can get your iron in there, you may be able to gently flatten these, but you may not be able to get it to go away entirely. Due to the weight of the project, you may experience a bit of bowing when hanging, but ironing may help alleviate this. Hope this makes sense! -Michelle
