- This is a short DIY tutorial on how to replace tie rod ends and swey bar links on your BMW. Mind you, it will be very similar on all other brands. Tool sizes and torques are mentioned in the video.
BE VERY CAREFULL WHEN LIFTING THE CAR UP - SAFETY FIRST. ALSO, YOU ARE WORKING ON YOUR CARS STEERING COMPONENTS. IF YOU DO NOT FEEL COMFY DOING THIS YOUR SELF, HAVE IT DONE BY PROFESSIONAL. MESSING UP THIS JOB COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, SO MISTAKES COULD OCCOUR IN MY VIDEO, BE WARNED.
Mine were 20 yrs old. Had to remove and use brutal tools on floor to break loose. Bought all new.
They are pretty stubborn.
How did you get it off?
Chopped it off with an angle grinder. I managed not to mess up the threads on the inner rod. Otherwise I would have to replace those as well.
