It sounds like the pitch of the music is lower than the original. Can anyone confirm this?
There are actually four generations of the rock ‘n’ roll chicken. The first generation has deep slower sound. You will also notice that the control area is deeply recessed. Second generation shares the same sound, but a slightly different case. Both made in Japan. Third generation is made other than Japan this is when the chip change happened, and the recording, became slightly faster and higher pitched. The fourth generation is the 2023 version which seems to have the original deeper slower recording.
Most that I've seen on youtube with "Rhythm Japan" printed on the clockface have the higher pitch while the ones with only "Rhythm" printed are lower pitched. I was under the assumption that "Rhythm Japan" labeled clocks are the 1st/2nd gen. Made In Japan units. The Japanese language units also seem to have the higher pitched instrumental.
We just had 10 multi generation models together at once comparing the differences that was the way I came up with the previous statement. Some versions also use a different speaker which makes a better sound. We went through about 20 of them this past week.
@@Champ1964 I see. I'm guessing there are some slight differences in circuitry between these units that causes the playback to slow or speed up depending on components used. Since they are battery powered I suppose low voltage could cause this as well.
