- In this Gold Fever episode produced in 2009 for Gold Prospectors Association of America and Outdoor Channel, Tom Massie and his daughter Shae revisit a golden hot spot in the California Motherlode to do some dredging. They visit the LDMA Italian Bar mining camp, and uncover some great stories, memories, and of course gold. Metal detecting, gold panning, and gold dredging techniques are used on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River.
America needs mining and this type of show on TV.

I miss those shows of gold prospecting
Watched the Buzzard videos back around 1990. Started a 30 year adventure of Prospecting for Gold in the Colorado Rockies !!! Enjoyed Tommy's videos over the years. Thank you, for all that you guys do.
I really miss these guys on the airwaves. I know we can’t bring George back, but Tom and Perry are still alive and kicking. The Outdoor Channel really did them dirty. We lost Prospecting America and Gold Fever. The fact that George founded that channel, just pisses me off even more.
I miss the "GOLD FEVER" shows so bad. People knew I watched it & they would start singing the song. COVID screwed up a lot of stuff but I hope with the GPAA & The Outdoor Channel that you can start back up again. I'm a proud member & learned so much starting off by watching you Tom. Like the tap, tap, tap to walk the gold to the side of the pan & to clean it up really good. But I still have gold fever. Great episode & the fever rages on.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS EPISODE! I remember Shae just picks up that motor like it was nothing! She must have been 16 or so at the time. Insane. Those nugs at the end…. Nothing beats that $hit.

No freaking way! One of my favorite episodes on Gold Fever! Only a very few episodes posted on this site. It’s a shame. The Buzzard would be proud of the association he started, would not let episodes of Gold Fever and Prospecting America be lost to all of us.
How has membership been since Tom and Perry were ripped from the airwaves? How the hell did they get booted from the Outdoor Channel? George started that channel! It fires me up when I think about it.

Lived in Tuolumne City and used to watch every show, think of how much gold is in the Stanislaus and Tuolumne forks since dredging has been outlawed

To fix your plug up problem, you really need to ditch that expensive, heavy, crappy dredge hose! I switched over to 4" black Polyethylene Corrugated Drainage Tubing. I cant stress how much of a difference using that tubing made!! Its light weight, cheap, can cut multiple lengths and the BEST PART... EXTREMELY RARE PLUGUPS. Because its ridged it rarely plugs up and works like a dream. In fact, I've never had a plug up in the tube since switching, only plug up location that I rarely get is at the nozzle or in the power jet. I'll never go back to dredge hose. EVER. I hope this helps!!
this was taped back in 2009 lol. you can't even use gas powered dredges anymore in California.

My name is Ken Valentina it was a member since 2015 of the GPA and ldma and it all went downhill it's a big rip-off now and they salt the claims there is no gold on the South fork of the Stanislaus River worth digging for I have lived here and worked here for 30 years there is no gold there don't get suckered in by these crooks
I call bull on this production... I have Never seen any person pull nuggets out that large in that amount in a few days work ... All More like a TV show production... also Dredging is not allowed in California as far as I know since Gov. ARNOLD Schwarzenegger & Sierra Club got a ruled passed against Dredging... So yeah More acting ... than real gold work ... just saying... and if you wanna prove me wrong I live in the central valley not far from Sonora & Italian bar, Jamestown's Woods Creek, Peppermint Creek... so show me ... prove me wrong !!!!
