Alex, remember Haldan lets you use mana as though it was mana of any color to cast spells with fetch counters on them.
You could have cast the flusterstorm against Jim with green or red mana

You did what you could Aaron. LB and Galvanic... but who could expect a 3rd drake.
It was super interesting to follow as a Magda player. Couple of things i noted. - Be careful presenting a win into no stax protection. The transmogrant should perhaps have stayed in hand. Personally I would have bolted Magda, end player 3 turn instead of the Drake. As you still present a next turn win or at least tutor, but it doesn’t look nearly as obvious as when keeping the Magda on board.
Second thing is how good portal to phyrexia would have been instead of bogarden. Taking care of the whole board setting and making a value engine would have been super strong. Still not sure of the card, but here it would have been awsome.

Jim, as much as I *loved* it when Gilded Drake's ability said "this effect can't be countered except by spells or abilities" so that it wouldn't fizzle, the current wording is:
"... This ability still resolves if its target becomes illegal."
wasnt using veil of summer to make spells uncounterable (plus u get a card) so deflecting swat resolves?

It did not actually matter, but is there any reason that Alex wasn't playing the lands from the pako pile when he missed land drops?
Because Haldan doesn't let you do that? Unless I'm missing something.

I'm curious why the shuffle from partner with isn't used to force someone else to shuffle.
Because it's an optional effect:
> When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, target player _may_ search their library for a card with the specified name, reveal it, put it into their hand, then shuffle.
The target would either go "nah, I'm good" or "sweet, a free shuffle," none of which are particularly good for the ability's controller (barring edge cases where one player is about to go off and the rest of the table scrambles to keep them from it). Not to mention cases where the other player has that same partner pair just in the 99.
It seems there aren't very many viable dwarves...

Can someone explain to me why people use fetch lands in a monocolor deck?
Of course! We have a video about exactly this (czcams.com/video/9-bL0riayiM/video.html), but if you want the TL;DR it's this:
In blue decks you can fetch Mystic Sanctuary, and sometimes you need shuffle effects to get rid of cards you don't want on the top of your library when you're playing Brainstorm, Bolas' Citadel, Future Sight Effects, Sensei's Divining Top, or Sylvan Library. It also enables landfall strategies.
@@TheSpikeFeeders on top of that, there’s the glaring advantage of fetches basically reducing the deck size, it’s a card slot that gets another card directly out of the deck, further increasing the reliability of subsequent draws by removes lands from the remaining cards.
Shuffling with brainstorms and other similar effects is just icing on the cake!

112.7a Once activated or triggered, an ability exists on the stack independently of its source. so killing the gilded drink after the ETB goes on the stack would not stop the exchange, correct?
It does resolve but does nothing, as you cannot exchange the permanents.
701.10a A spell or ability may instruct players to exchange something (for example, life totals or control of two permanents) as part of its resolution. When such a spell or ability resolves, if the entire exchange can’t be completed, no part of the exchange occurs.
