    I’ve been on Auvelity for about 4 months and it works great! I’ve tried numerous medications for MDD and this is the first medication i could actually feel my mood change for the better physically and emotionally. I’ve never been happier. I felt it kick almost right away and was upbeat by day 2! This saved my life

    night and day difference in 5 days. I stopped living and I almost gave up all together. My DR said lets try this and I was willing to try anything. I cannot believe the difference. Its like a light went on. They did have to add Wellbutrin XL 150 once a day to the treatment but it's been a year and I cannont believe how well this works. I also can't believe how depressed I was. I remember actually accidentally taking too much prescription cough medication when I had bronchitis in 2017. The cough medication had dextromethorphan in it. I remember having an incredible sense of well-being, I was able to sit and actually read and take in full paragraphs without being inhibited by dissociative episodes of despair and sadness which had plauged me since I was a little kid. Once it wore off I thought nothing of it, just that it was a brief escape from the constant onslaught of sadness that was my brain’s baseline awareness. Maybe a few years later I remembered that night I had years ago and purposefully tried taking a little too much DXM again to see if it was as fun as I remember and it was even more profoundly heartwarming than I remember. I was able to fully remind myself of my positive inner qualities, my strengths, the people in my life that love me and my potential. Gradually, and over time off the drug, I felt very nostalgic about my handful of times on DXM. There was a dark year of my life where I used DXM every day over the counter to try and achieve an anti depressant effect but it was in secret and way too much to the extent that I was delirious and couldn’t make sense of my surroundings sometimes. But I knew that there was something about this drug that was inherently helpful to alleviating depression. After I went to rehab to detoxify from DXM I was prescribed Wellbutrin, which worked well staving off depression, as it shares as a similar application chemically to DXM, even though it wasn’t quite as effective. Independently through my own research I stumbled onto the development of Auvelity which combined Wellbutrin and DXM. I felt some internal conflict about it because it’d been a drug that had kind of taken over my better judgement in the past, but had a strong feeling that if it was monitored by healthcare professionals and taken at a low and consistent dose it would be safe. I’ve been Auvelity for about 6 months and the quality of my life has elevated to a level I never would have imagined. I have my own house, my dream job, my relationships are so good, I am working out consistently, I do not use recreational drugs, I have artistic success as a musician selling out shows all along the west coast. It’s been an insane ride and I wouldn’t recommend this drug to anyone but it’s pretty incredible how this one chemical changed the entire direction of my life in countless ways.

    I have a question about Auvelity as an Alzheimer’s medication. I’ve read a few things in regard to the potential of Auvelity’s possible usefulness as a treatment for Alzheimer’s. What confuses me is that given that increased levels of glutamate are present in Alzheimer’s patients and that these increased levels seem to be causing damage, why would a medication that increases glutamate by blocking its reuptake be looked at as not throwing fuel on the fire but instead as a benefit? Thanks.

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Great question! I am not familiar with its use in Alzheimer's disease and therefore would not use it for such treatment. It seems it would need more research and considerable evidence in efficacy versus harm to be advised for this use.

      Benzo withdrawal is actually tricky. I try and stay away from pharmaceuticals as most people who withdrawal and taper from benzos may have a neurological injury due to the withdrawal. Adding medications can make it worse or not help at all. However, for some people it may help, but I prefer not to take the risk. Instead, I look at nutritional deficiencies, gut health and genetics to optimize your health as best we can prior to withdrawing so that the process is not as brutal.
