  • We decided to rebuild this spreader because it was coming up on 30 years and it was pretty well destroyed. We put all new bearings, chain, gear box, and slider bottom in it. All said and done it was around $1500 for the new parts. The oak wood we had sawed up on our sawmill. If you would like to see more videos like this please comment, like, and subscribe for more! 30yr old Smith sander still going.
Looks good, we have an upgraded 1.75yrd hopper now but basically the same still. Chains and bearings do rust fast, wash it out good in the spring grease it and used oil bath the chain. I may know someone who works for Smith's.🤐

Every spring we grease everything the best we can. And then we oil the chain 2x during the summer so nothing freezes and that works perfect for us. Only problem we’ve ever had is the motor rots out from the bottom and oil leaks out and seizes them up
