    In this video I want to give you some tips for falling on your snowboard. Falling is something that's going to happen when you're learning to ride, or if you're learning new tricks. The key is to have a few techniques that will help you fall in the safest way. So there are two common ways to fall, the first is catching your toe edge and fall forward, possibly hurting your wrists. The second is catching your heels and falling backwards, where you could hurt your tailbone. When you're out there riding your want to be progressing your riding with small steps where you have the greatest chance of succeeding with the smallest chance of falling. and if you do happened to fall you have these tools to help keep you safe. So thanks for watching guys! If you found this video helpful, remember to like, share and subscribe. Check out the beginner snowboard playlist for more beginner tips. and I'll see ya in the next video.

    Hey I am getting ready to learn how to snowboard, super excited, and I would just like to say that these videos for beginners are super helpful, I have never snowboarded before and wondering if you guys have any extra tips, when I start I will be using my mom's old board, with my dad's clicker K2 binding, and I know most of you wouldn't advise me to start on those, but my dad loves them to death and he doesn't keep any step in/ strap up bindings or whatever around. Anyways, if you have anything I should know before starting this season, please let me know. Thanks!

    Another good way when you are too fast in hard ice (I don't know if you call hard ice in english but...) and fall forward is putting one or both hands in the ground and before you put your elbow try to flip backwards first touching one back or side shoulder and arm and them spreading the impact in the back. It's most used for skateboarding to avoid broke your face in the concrete. hahahaha

    Hi Kevin! I found your video really helpful. However yesterday when I rode I fell due to a bump and resulted in twisting my upper body while my feet were planted firmly on the board (the board is hard to roll with my body down the hill). My knees are injured and I didn't think I could keep on riding for at least one week. In this case, It seems that the board is kind of an obstacle to 'roll down' the trail to stop. Do you have any recommendation for preventing hurting knees from this? Also any recovery tips for this injury would be really helpful to me! Thanks!

      +Ashley Brooke Gardner to do a good curve you need a lot of speed, leaning on heel and toe not swinging your back of the board not like a fish tail, don't want to plow the snow you want to cut through it. It all about the leaning.

    Any tips on what to do if you are in the park doing a feature and know you're about to fall, but you don't have time to bail on the feature? Last month I lost balance on a rail and broke my wrist on the way down. I had tried to safely dismount and avoid breaking the fall with my hands, but in the process of protecting my hands, I accidentally/instinctively swung them out of the way and smacked the top of my wrist on the underside of the rail. :/
    Which brings up another question...do you have any advice on how to overcome post-injury fear? I really wanna get back on the slopes when I'm all healed up, but I'm TERRIFIED of breaking another bone! I know I'll needa take it slowly, but after spending the last 5 weeks in a cast, the thought of just going down greens even is making me nervous...

    Im a mountainboarder, and was in a car accident a year ago, so i wear my Hillbilly hip pads, and Dakine Matrix impact vest when i snowboard. I cant imagine there's anything better, in terms of safety and comfort/mobility. I would HIGHLY recommend hip pads to ANY rider, and an impact vest especially for intermediates upgrading their limits. And the best part is, its all worn UNDER your clothes so you don't have to worry about your young hormones triggering social anxiety.

Tried to bend the legs and absorb the impact but my front leg buckled forward. Torn ACL and meniscus, sprained all the surrounding ligaments. Really hoping that after reconstructive surgery I can get a knee brace and be back on a board by next season. Bummer! Step #1 - know your limits.

I also recommend wrist guards if you are new, making a fist very quickly will take practice, we all put our hands out when we fall, lol...

    • @SnowboardProCamp
      @SnowboardProCamp  Před 9 lety +3

      That's a good question. I guess it depends on how you're going to fall. One thing you probably want to do in any situation is stay calm, so you can make the best decision on what to do. I remember going too big on a jump once and getting myself ready in the air to bend my knees as much as possible to absorb the flat landing. It all worked out good in the end. Anyone else have examples of how they avoided a bad fall?

      A good trick not to get your back head bumped is to try to look in direction of your feet, basic rule they teach in ninjutsu, but of course don't smash your face in your chest if you see you gonna fall frontside :D protect your neck is also a good overall rule number one. Just my 2 cents as an expert in other fields but an intermediate in snowboard.
