There are only a handful of exclusives that I wanted to play on PlayStation that steam offer so it only made sense to me to use the steam platform to play those PlayStation games as well as PC games. I updated the ram in my laptop and quickly realized that the SSD inside my laptop was insufficient. I went and got a 5 TB HDD Drive for 119 bucks at Best Buy and utilizing the information that you gave in this very quick concise infotainment video. I am so happy to report. I now have tons of room for all the games that I want to put on my laptop and take with me anywhere I go. Thank you so much please continue with great videos like this.
You might have been able to download to your PC/laptop then drag and drop to the external drive. This was useful, though, I agree, in being able to avoid that step.

Ok this video helps. I got an Acer nitro 5 and am finally able to play more recent games on it. It runs great but has small space. I've been trying to figure out if I could get a hard drive to place my games there and how I could transfer them. Would a regular 2TB external hard drive work well with my laptop? I bought a legion 5 with 500 gb and i was having problems downloading some games because i dont have that much space but now i can use an external ssd i already had as a syorage devicd for my games xD
Misleading video title. A more appropriate title would've been "how to install or move your games to an external drive", because "boot drive" implies that the computer itself will boot from said external drive, granted said external drive has an operating system installed and the BIOS is set up such that it allows booting from external media, and be able to use whatever software is installed on it.
Ok, ive moved all the games to the external drive but then when i plug the drive in when i want to play games, it just makes me download the games again
Did you change the game directory on the launcher? The launcher has a set path where it will scan for the games that have been downloaded, if you haven't changed the file path in the launcher to the file path where you moved the games then obviously it won't detect that the games have been downloaded and will make you download them again

My god man you are a lifesaver my pc has the WORST storage I only got tf2 and Minecraft and my disc is full so I put everything on the 3 terabyte drive and it is working like magic
Is it possible to have an external be always on so there's no lag etc if the drive needs to boot up so overall performance stays fast without having to convert it to and internal drive?

So basically if you wanted to download a game but you didn’t have enough storage for it, a ssd would add storage to your computer for that game you want to get depending on how much ssd you get?

Yes thanks cuz my drive is a 5 TERRABYTE DRIVE that doesn’t even accept when I go through the steps to use it on steam. And so far nothing else has shown me how to do what I need to do.

@weak2297 Both pirated and steam games don't work. I found out that the cable was the problem and the write speeed itself is low.

Did you change the game directory on the launcher? shut down your laptop, unplug the external hard drive and then boot up your laptop again and you are good to go
