The Battle Of The Year has come a long way. Who would have thought that BOTY would go from starting out in 1990 in a local youth culture centre with 500 hard-core fans to an arena packed with more than 12,000 roaring spectators and b-boy crews from all over the world?
BOTY has grown massively -- and we have slowly realised our vision of developing the spirit of breakdance and creating an international event platform that allows B-Boys and B-Girls from all different countries to express their creativity in front of an ever-growing audience.
The BOTY 2008 finals were held in Braunschweig, Germany!

Probably the best a moment in this video are the last 10 seconds - this is what really makes me smile. It is the respect between the two teams, seeing how they hug and just show what makes professionals (dancers, athletes, whatever...) shine. Respecting each other and having fun!

Because the competition will not always allow one country to win, they won the championship for two consecutive years in 2004 and 2005, and the championship in 2007, so they don’t want to see the championship in 2008 again. I also watched it back then, and it was definitely TIP that won the game. But the organizers definitely don’t want to. So it should have been decided before the finals. This is how the game works.

I swear to god, if DIffer do one more time roll back to airchair or one hand stand I will lose it (he did it at least 4 times), Bboy eyez set at 19:09 is also extremely identical to TIP's first round. That's been said, Top 9 is wayyyy worse in every aspect.
You see the Red Bull logo under the DJ? I think your explanation is here. They really started to put their hand on all bboying and having a Russian winner was an opportunity do develop bboying and their brand in a huge market. In Korea bboying was already very popular and Red Bull didn't have the same potential there... I am afraid it is all marketing stuff... at least that is really the only explanation I can find...

Everyone in the comment section saying TIP won this battle. If you analyze this battle it was EVEN, both crews were exceptional when it came to: style, originality, routine. so when you have 2 crews that were both exceptional, you have to count the MISTAKES!!
TIP made a HUGE mistake in minute 3:20 they jumped in at the wrong time!! I think this mistake is what cost TIP the battle. You are a professional breakdancing crew you cannot make such a mistake in the FINAL of BOTY.
