Wigs seemed the norm in the 60s and 70s, I remember my mother wearing them and we never even thought about it, some days she was e Redhead and other days she was blonde.

I have worn mine in the real world, and ALWAYS, I get that look that lets me know they know its a wig. Then i get embarrassed and stop wearing them again. And my sister called them "my pets", which hurt, but I didn't let her know that the "joke" really hurt.

We started this journey together. With the trying different styles , color, textures. Wearing them, washing them in wool light, fabric softener, and other concoctions.
Sometimes I have to fess up that I’m wearing a wig. Like at the chiropractor doctors office… New boyfriend etc. A nurse asked me the other day. Why do you wear wigs? I simply told her well it’s like this, Emily… I am extremely lazy. And like to get out the door in as less time is it takes to put on your shoes. Voila ! 😂…see ya~Lee⭐️

Hi Jill, I had my 50th birthday last week and wore my freetime wig out. My husband didn't mind at all. In fact, he thinks the wigs are amazing, and he knows the wigs give me confidence.
I wanted to say thank you for your help. ❤ I have been watching your videos for about 3 years. Not only have you helped me with my confidence to wear wigs out but to cut and style them too. I love your makeup tutorials too❤ I got looked at and felt self-conscious, but the moment does pass. I also had a few men come up and say hi, although they did have beer goggles on!! Thank you for your expertise and guidance over the years. I cant begin to say how much you have really helped me. I can't wait to buy my next wig and wear it out xxx ❤

Thank you for sharing this. The first time I wore my very first topper out in public, an acquaintance saw me in a store, she didn’t approach me. She went home and called her friend, my sister in law, she was concerned because she thought I had cancer. My sister in law, whom I’m very close to called me. So I told her my journey. Of course she already knew I was very self conscious about my hair loss. I ended up sending a group text message out to my family and I told them if I look different/ better to you this is why. It was wonderful!
Sadly on my husband’s side of the family they are not as accepting or gracious. I have never told them or shared my journey. In the beginning if they commented on my hair I simply told them I just got it done!

My husband loved them! .my co-workers couldn’t wait to see what style and color I would wear next. As long as you accept wearing wigs for yourself, everyone usually accepts them too.

Jill, thank you for having this conversation with me. Yesss, I literally feel you were speaking directly to me in this one. You addressed my feelings to the "T"! I'll keep on researching and watching your videos. I can't wait, to make my first purchase of helper hair. Right now, I'm adding fiber powder to hide my thinning spots and quite frankly, I'm getting tired of the mess and wondering if it's still in tact on coverage. So, here we GO!!! I also want to thank you for addressing ALL of my crazy questions in the Q&A. You made me feel comfortable and I can do this and my questions can get answered through your videos. THANK YOU, so much for HELPING me and giving me the CONFIDENCE to move forward. Keep up what you do and know you ARE HELPING SOMEONE❣️ ❤LOVE❤ you and your spirit. Be BOLD & BLESSED❣️ ❤, Kimber

Hi Jill! This was a great video! I’ve been wearing toppers daily since 2018. The first thing I did was get the mail. That same evening my husband, my daughter and I went out for dinner. My daughter kept complimenting me on my hair! My husband didn’t even notice! 😆 But you are right. Start small. I have discovered that people don’t really care about my appearance because they are too busy with their own issues. Anyway I thank you. I’m looking forward to Wednesdays. Take care!❤

Hi Jill, you are the one who introduced me to wigs. Though I watched you look so beautiful and teach so much about them, I still struggled for 2 years or so before I could take the plunge. I knew I couldn't buy a higher-end wig I bought the best I could and made it work. I watched videos on thinning wigs, and I took that info and thinned my wig. I played with it a lot until I got the style I liked. I love my wig. I feel so much better in it. The more I wear it the more confident I am. My neighbor came over and said oh you colored your hair. I said, "No it's a wig." He couldn't believe it. I think I will wear it to my doctor's appointment on Fri. We'll see if I get that brave. Thank you Jill!! I would never have started this journey without you! And I love my wig and how it makes me feel! ❤Patsy

Great conversation Jill! I have a massive collection of wigs that I love, I also have bio Hair that is OK, but not great. When I used to work as a teacher full-time at my school, I occasionally wore wigs for fun and everybody knew it - it was great! Now I substitute at six different middle schools, and I have no support system, no friends, little respect at these schools. People recognize me and I have some acquaintances. Honestly, the staff and students would think I was nuts and I just don’t want to go there, so while I still have decent hair, I wear my own hair to work. When I am out and I wear my wigs. I also wear them at church periodically and I wear them with family. I’ve posted them on Facebook. I would love to be able to wear them to work, but I just can’t go into that at this point because it’s such a rough situation as a substitute teacher anyway.

I struggle with this A LOT and I've been wearing helper hair for over 10 years! Many times I wish I had just come out with it in the beginning as you did because now, after all this time I feel trapped in the deception. I've only told a few people I'm closest to. My appearance has always caused way too much attention from people even as a child which started with my parents. Just too much emphasis IMO, always feeling like I needed to be Miss America! I also have a hard time with being false, needing to be a "Natural" beauty and anything else just not being as good. Then there's aging, I'm 61, overweight etc. So...I wear mainly human hair toppers as close to what my bio hair looked like as I can. That's where I'm at, who knows what the future holds. Thank you Jill for all your encouragement and help. Best of luck to all of you out there! ❤ Sherry

A long time ago, I had friend who really wanted to learn how to Hula dance. She said I have no rhythm or coordination but my husband is taking me to Hawaii and I want to hula at the resort luau. She met a lovely Hawaiian lady from church to teach her some basic moves. My friend said she was so embarrassed to even practice the moves she learned in front of her hula teacher. On their last lesson before her trip her teacher told her, "Honey! You go out there and do your thing! Who da'hell know you, anyway?" I think back to that inspirational phrase every time I am apprehensive to wear a new wig out. I tell myself, "Who da'hell knows you, anyway?" I check myself in the mirror, I hold my head high (especially if the wig has permatese..lol), and I wear a lovely smile. I'm not letting fear steal my joy, I love wigs and love how they make me feel.😊

My sister-in-law had 3 wigs in the early 70s and wore them unapologetically. When she and my brother were dating he said he loved it because his friends thought he was dating a different babe all the time. Her natural hair was quite long and dark; however, when my mom first met her she was wearing a short blonde wig. Mom thought it was her real hair. She came home and said “oh your brother is dating the cutest blonde. They are coming over for dinner on Sunday”. They came over and SIL sported her natural long dark hair. Mom was shocked and I said, “Mom! I thought you said she was blonde?” Mom said “well she was the other day!” The other styles were auburn page boy, and a shoulder length frosted flip. And SIL wore her short blonde wig in their wedding. True story.

You always look fabulous in those wigs. I started almost two years ago and have learned so much. I turn to blonde wigs or silver, Grey. I don't buy long wigs, because for me, at 79, they don't look good on me. The longest is just below the ears. I have pixies, and different bobs. I always put one side behind my ear, and a hair clip. I have never been nervous about going out in public. In the 60s they used to have wig party's. Human hair wigs. I was in my twenty with lots of hair, but bought one called "Frosted". I also wore a wiglet on top of my head. I never wore the ones that were high. Those to me were so silly. I just piled my hair on top if my head and put the little wiglet on. I love my wigs and if I don't wear one in public, I wear a baseball hat. H🎉A Ha

I love all the baby steps you provided from your mailbox to grocery store. It’s definitely a great way to build confidence. I recently found you by accident and just got giddy ... I love your vídeos and the way you're empowering women of all ages I hope but specially us, 80's teens that are losing our hair. I used to have a full mop of curly hair until I decided to have an adult acne treatment with Accutane and lost about 60% of my hair. I consider myself lucky because it was not insome patches but everywhere. Then menopause hit and it is that. Thin hair. Like you mentioned, I bought two toppers that you reviewed and they are gorgeous but in my case, I have to smoth, blow out my hair to be able to wear it. I never been insecure but this time is tough. I also don't know how to make beautiful make up like you. I just completed 55 turns around the sun and am hopping I can learn from you. Thanks for your vídeos! They give me hope 🙏

I haven't really started wearing my wigs until recently. I own about a dozen. Most did not feel real secure on my head and tended to slip back, so I was nervous about wearing them in public. My bio hair is very fine and thin. What has made the difference for me is getting a new "Wig Fix," which is a clear silicone wig grip type of band with little nubs on it, which seems to help keep my wigs on better than the other cloth wig grips I've used. I'm not a fan of wig glue.

I started wearing wigs about 12yrs ago at the age of 60. I ordered Winner by Raquel Welch, put it on and haven’t gone wig less since. I knew nothing about wigs but my thin hair was uncontrollable. People didn’t know I was wearing one unless I told them. I read up on how to secure them, wash them , style them. Now all these years later I’ve really ventured out with styles and have gone into silver/grey wigs. Mostly rooted. It’s wig reviewers like Jill that have taught me to be braver and branch out, even learning as an old lady some messiness with my wigs really makes them look more natural.

She has resisted the plastic surgery route and lets her wrinkles show but she wears them with swagger and she is considered to have great beauty at the age she is in her 70's. It is all about attitude. Wigs helps you get your swagger going.

I bought my first wig two years ago and very seldom wore it because every time I put it on, I felt like it looked like a wig. I took it to my hair dresser and she thinned it out for me, but I still was not comfortable wearing it. I bought it because I felt like it looked very similar to my bio hair and wanted to take it with me to wear when we traveled in our RV. Now two years later my hair is thinning even more so I start doing research about wigs...who knew there was so much information and different types of wigs. My biggest problem with my first wig was the density of the hair. It just overwhelmed my face. After doing my research and knowing a little more about wigs in general, I took a friend with me to a wig shop (that was a blast) and I found two wigs that I absolutely love (and purchased) and have had a wig on everyday since then. The owner of the shop also drastically thinned my original wig and now I'm in love with it also. There are still a couple of styles that I still want to purchase, but I'll need to pace myself financially. I wore one of my new wigs to a family get together and my daughter commented that she loved my hair. No one else said a word-which I found to be somewhat relieving. The style is slightly different than my bio hair, but close enough that no one noticed. I call that a win! I just bought a wig grip and love the way it keeps my wig secure on my head. I tried a cap and felt like it was constantly inching back on my head and taking my wig with it. Also bobby pins, which helps, but was concerned about tearing hairs out of my wig when I removed the bobby pins. I'm loving my "helper hair"!! Thank you for the Wig Wednesday video and I look forward to more!

Similar feelings except I’m struggling to get out the door because I’ve lost so much hair! I can’t _wait_ to get a wig or helper hair!😅
I’m still looking, but having a bit of sticker shock. So next step for me was to stop being such a store snob and start at the bottom and work my way up while I save up for something nice.
Saw a gal doing a review on wigs from Temu… can’t get any cheaper than that, right? 😂 Got the app but can’t seem to find its search feature to even find the wigs!! Strange… it’s like walking into a store that’s all flashing lights and “SALE” signs, but there’s no one there! 😂 Next stop…Amazon, I guess.

I hate being gawked at…I like to not be the focus in the room…I get annoyed and anxious by attention outside of being with my kids and very close friend…but, im confident wearing my wigs, I wear em often …I did contemplate telling everyone I know, in-laws ( which are many)..etc…
But you know…one day I realised I would get gawked at if I did tell them ( they are huge gawkers)… or if I don’t
So if i turn up with my gorgeous perfect brown haired topper all the time and not say anything, they will gawk at me cos my hairs so nice and perfect all the time..I will get gawked at either way ( which will annoy the crap out of me)… so, Because of that…Im NOT TELLEM EM….they can gawk till they drop….❤🇦🇺

Hmm....if I really liked the guy, and we hit it off and it seemed like this was going to become a regular thing (haha) I probably would let him know early on. I mean, if he dropped me, or didn't like it ....he would get the boot early on! haha!

The banding you may see happen...is makeup. If you keep the lace clean you won't see it. ;) You can see some banding on mine in this video....but, it has to get really bad for me to do something about it. Haha! We are so critical because WE KNOW, but those who don't, don't look for those "clues".

Women need to realize their husbands are not their dad. Do you … you are an independent person. And yes at 59 I wear all the colors and lengths. Why ? Cause I can.

Sew clips into them, but its not quite as comfortable. The clips are the same as clip in hair extension clips.

You can also try a wig grip. Just make sure it's facing the right direction. ;)
