The old ult could pull way further the ennemy because it had a longer duration, w movement speed and you could do a trick to at the end of the cc to pull further by turning around.
Hail of blades with Heartsteel first item is fun on sharner. You can build titanic hydra also depending of you can afford to hold off on tank item. Had a hydra hitting for 900 dmg woth active.

Zwag, I have been LOVING Skarner rework! Love seeing someone else build some AP, you should try starting with heart steal, going full tank, then I love to finish with a RiftMaker, you'll get 80+ extra AP from health, and in combat so long so you get the % damage boost permanently, plus omnivamp! Try it out you handsome son of a gun

Hey Zwag I’m new but really enjoying the game, I like top lane a lot… is it a good lane to master first? And what champ do you recommend? I like orn but idk what I’m talking about
Learning league is more about learning how the game works than how a specific champ works. Stuff like cs'ing, knowing when to trade (which is champ/matchup specific), vision control, plays for objectives, tracking the enemy jg, tracking cooldowns, paying attention to the minimap, and prioritizing in team fights are all things to work on as you learn whatever champ. Just play who you want!

Zwag... you missed so many opportunities to steal their red, and that would be HUGE for Skarner.
I think a last item Riftmaker if you are stomping would also be good.
Bigger shield, way more damage and some spellvamp for a tanky boy.

Ive played skarner for about 80 games now since the rework and his only problem in lane is mana, if riot gives him higher mana regen or just an average base mana (instead of the actual mana he has rn wich is waaay below average) he will be a really good actual top laner and i would very much enjoy that ngl(or give him no mana just like a lot of similar champions)

Too slow in the jgl? His Q alone make him quite have a fast clearing speed and his E spam makes him able to go to places he wants to be rather quickly such as ganks and objective fights.
