Unfortunately I think to myself nowadays if this game were to newly come out and get a commercial they're actually might be a fair chance that instead of intensity we would get meme based humor
I think this is so powerful; how everyone in the whole world, from different backgrounds, beliefs, religions, practices, all come together, in their last hours of life, and have their unison moment of silence; a reflection on all their war, bloodshed, conflicts, rivalries, and innocent slaughter of life. Because in the face of death they all realized one thing: we're all human. We all will die. Probably the one thought running through all of their minds was: "Why wasn't I a better person?"
I think this is why the game is so legendary. It's a really heavy concept for a children's game. Reading and getting into the deep lore of Zelda, BOTW, OOT, and Majora's Mask can get incredibly adult and horrifying!
Yup. This is why I love movies like "Don't Look Up" too. Everyone will have this mindset when the world ends. In a sense...it makes me feel less alone. We all die, which is inherently scary, but we'll all share that same fate. It's... comforting, to say the least...
This is my favorite Nintendo commercial. It has atmosphere, and sets the mood for the whole game. It puts the whole scenario in perspective, as the weight of your actions determine the fate of Termina. Here's an intersting question: every time Link goes back in time, what happens to the Termina he leaves behind? Does it get destroyed? Are there countless parallel Termina's that just vanish under a massive mushroom cloud?
Dayum! I remember seeing this on tv. That's how I learned about this game. It was different back then. No social media and I didn't had internet back then. We only see games from video stores, game magazines and tv commercials. I remember playing the Nintendo 64 display in the store that had Majora's Mask in it. I had to look up coz the tv was so high up. lol
Majora's Mask (my favorite Zelda game) turned 20-years old today. I have soo many fascinating memories playing and watching my older brother play this game in the basement. It was only today that I discovered that our birthdays are very close to each other. Hopefully it comes to Switch someday.
zeropromiscuous after that a lot of commercials like this got removed even a few pokemon episodes got removed it was probably with the scene of the moon over the building
I wouldn't say it's that inaccurate. In the game, there's a moon that you have to stop from crashing into the planet, and in the commercial they show The Moon crashing into Earth. I do agree about the weird part, though.
Bone chilling. If the game was made now, and this commercial would be put on every single tv channel out there; I wouldn't hesitate in buying it at all. Love the game! :)
This commercial was also so spooky. I remember seeing it in the spring of 2000 coming right off of the whole Y2K thing. Played into that vibe really well.
the creepiest E-game add i've ever seen amazing how creative and original they were a few years ago, and they haven't even peaked with those kinds of ideas, just awesome
Why is it that the millisecond we ticked over into the 21st century, gaming commercials went surreal? What was the influence? Going from abstract, goofy 90s commercials to all this strange, slow-burning stuff.
In retrospect, it was brilliantly creepy but also did capture the vibe of the game. MM has a much darker, tense feel to it than the preceding entry in the series.
I don’t know if this is one of the original advertisements from 2000, but there are multiple things in Majora’s Mask that would not have been in the final product after September 11. Including the doomsday themed ads, the moon knocking down a tower, & Garo enemies which act as suicide bombers.
Tentando entender como o Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói foi parar nesse comercial. De qualquer forma, esse jogo e arte tem tudo a ver, afinal Majora's Mask é uma obra-prima!
holy fucking shit!!! That dish-like build in the begging of the ad is a museum of my city....in Brazil! o.O It's the Museum of Contemporany Art (MAC)! Never expected to see it in a ad like this!
I freakin loved the AR game that they had set up for this game. Nintendo set it up a story to were Termina, Hyrule, and Earth are connected and if the moon crashes in Termina, it'll crash in Hyrule and Earth, too. So, they set up a contest to find a kid to control Link to save all three worlds. The kid in the commercial is the one who won the contest, if I remember correctly.
lol i found that funny you watch the commircal then they say (rated E for everyone) its just like " after a add like that you say its rated E it just came out no where" xD
Hmmm soo I played this game when it first came out before Y2K.. World was saved...2011 I beat it again before 2012,...I think it is time for me to dust off my N64 controller start a new file again and play again, you all can thank me when it's over...I GOT THIS 😎
I would love a straight up remake. Or a squeal. With upgraded graphics or with the old. If I knew how to make a video game I would and it would be amazing. I have an idea for a Zelda game. Zelda The Search For Link The squeal to Twilight Princess and I had thought about the idea ten years ago. Wrote the opening story what happen after. I had it in a huge open world pretty much as big as what Breath of the wild is. It has a open ocean that lead back to the other side. It solves the edges and so it gives it the feel that it is a planet. A small one but big for us players. So you sail from point A then walk, jump, run, swim, the sail, catch s few islands. The ocean is not huge but gives you enough open water to feel excited. The idea in my head is epic, she commands a large ship at one point. Let me know when you want my idea Nintendo. 😊
1. Go on CZcams both on different tabs. 2. One tab, have the Ocarina of Time commercial. Other tab have the Majora's Mask commercial, but MUTE the MM commercial. 3. Play both commercials at the same time but watch the Majora's Mask commercial.... It's epic with the OoT's music.
Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time are masterpieces, even their commercials. Although I was too little in that time for having an N64, I have played both games in emulator. I can't choose between both because I really like both.
their add for original ocarina of time was: "will thou flee or fight? will thou finish or die trying? and in the end, will thou get the girl or play like one?" seriously, that's what it was
That White Horse 0:53 at always reminds me about a quote in the Bible that talks about an apocalypse and the Four Horsemen. Btw, if you must know, I am an atheist. I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the seven living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come Forward." I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on Conquest.
I love how intense the commercial was and then it's just RATED E FOR EVERYONE.
Kami Lee lol right
Right, because when the moon crashes, it knows no man nor child.
Rated E for EVERYONE DIES
E10 wasn't out back then.
The other Majora's Mask commercial (Play it to the end) has the same thing
*creepy and depressing atmosphere*
voice: rated E for everyone
Unfortunately I think to myself nowadays if this game were to newly come out and get a commercial they're actually might be a fair chance that instead of intensity we would get meme based humor
when i was in like class 5 it merely gave me a heart or something like that so it was a good rating
Probably the one thought running through all of their minds was:
"Why wasn't I a better person?"
ReSubrose all this in a commercial for the video game that inroduced the world to Tingle.
So as the game
I think this is why the game is so legendary. It's a really heavy concept for a children's game.
Reading and getting into the deep lore of Zelda, BOTW, OOT, and Majora's Mask can get incredibly adult and horrifying!

Rated E for everyone? More like rated T for ThreatningToChildren
The game itself is kinda creepy.Perhaps the darkest of the zelda series
Spitz541 The child timeline is also known as the Depressing/Dark/E for Everyone Timeline
Rated E for EveryonePrepareToDie
Rated E for Eldritch Abomination
I agree with you, that game should've been T rated.
This commercial is brilliant. Majora's Mask was one of my fave games as a kid.
Rated "E" for "EVERYONE IS GONNA DIE, INCLUDING YOU"
Of course...
The commercial had to be as creepy as the game.
As a kid, when I realized this was a Zelda add I was shocked
My favorite commercial of all time. So perfect.
Please stay in my head.
Back when video game commercials couldn't just show the game, but had to be really weird about it.
Never was there a more terrifying commercial, for a game rated E.
Damn, I miss how commercials made you feel for a game.
Dayum! I remember seeing this on tv. That's how I learned about this game. It was different back then. No social media and I didn't had internet back then. We only see games from video stores, game magazines and tv commercials. I remember playing the Nintendo 64 display in the store that had Majora's Mask in it. Please take me back to these times 😩🥺😞
This is more depressing than creepy.
Majora's Mask (my favorite Zelda game) turned 20-years old today. I have soo many fascinating memories playing and watching my older brother play this game in the basement. It was only today that I discovered that our birthdays are very close to each other. Hopefully it comes to Switch someday.
I remember seeing this commercial on TV when I was a kid... and it was epic
GOD nintendo was better at commercials back then. i want this game just to know WHAT THE HECK WAS GOING ON.
They are coming back, at last, the promise has been made.
The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask Remake
"Rated E for everyone."
Lies.
Why they didn't a commercial like this for the remake?
bc after 9/11 stuff like this became bad taste
I don't get any reference of the 9/11 in a trailer like this... US isn't all the entire world
zeropromiscuous
after that a lot of commercials like this got removed
even a few pokemon episodes got removed
it was probably with the scene of the moon over the building
+Gassy Goddess what's 9/11 got to do with anything? this is apocalyptic.
+zeroprmscs I'm from the US and I don't see any reference either.
I wouldn't say it's that inaccurate. In the game, there's a moon that you have to stop from crashing into the planet, and in the commercial they show The Moon crashing into Earth.
I do agree about the weird part, though.
I remember this when it was fresh, and this really got me anxious. After playing the game, this commercial's tone is very accurate.
I don't know why a commercial that puts the pressure of the world depending on you made me want to play this game but it did.
This is what it’d definitely be like if a commercial for Zelda was directed by David Lynch
the best zelda commercial of all !! epic
I remember this commercial so damn well!!
Bone chilling. If the game was made now, and this commercial would be put on every single tv channel out there; I wouldn't hesitate in buying it at all. Love the game! :)
Wait, E for Everyone. THIS GAME SCARED THE SHIT OUT OF ME. That's why I want a 3ds version.
Did it happen?
This commercial was also so spooky.
I remember seeing it in the spring of 2000 coming right off of the whole Y2K thing. Played into that vibe really well.
Yeah I remember I was trying finish the game before world ends. I think it give the game more doomsday feeling. ❤
@@MakelBelieve Nintendo was like: "Let's use Y2K as a way to sell our last major N64 game."
@@imanoakyboy true
the creepiest E-game add i've ever seen
amazing how creative and original they were a few years ago, and they haven't even peaked with those kinds of ideas, just awesome
Why is it that the millisecond we ticked over into the 21st century, gaming commercials went surreal? What was the influence? Going from abstract, goofy 90s commercials to all this strange, slow-burning stuff.
If this happened in real life I think twitch will be flooded of majorias mask live streams to save the day
Dang this is one of the best commercials EVER!
Beware the Moon
Best game commercial ever!
Of course is rated E for Everyone, after all..
*_DEATH COMES TO US ALL_*
Gamers before Majoras' Mask came out: What the fuck is that even about?
Gamers after Majoras' Mask came out: THAT'S IT! THAT'S THE GAME.
Including the doomsday themed ads, the moon knocking down a tower, & Garo enemies which act as suicide bombers.
commercials in the early 2000's were fucking wild
A creepy ass commercial for a creepy ass game.
scariest commercial i've seen yet...
Tentando entender como o Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói foi parar nesse comercial. De qualquer forma, esse jogo e arte tem tudo a ver, afinal Majora's Mask é uma obra-prima!
So acording to this ad when there are 3 days left before the end of the world, everyone plays Zelda.
Is Nintendo trying to scare kids,or advertise a game?
I guess they too the "End of the world" storyline a bit too seriously. Then again, MM is a pretty dark Zelda game to begin with.
Me watching this:
"Fuck Nintendo!! I almost shit myself!!"
Rated E for Everyone
"Oh, okay. :D"
Why are you all complaining, this advertisement is just pure awesomeness
"E for everyone?" This game still creeps me out to this day.
holy fucking shit!!!
That dish-like build in the begging of the ad is a museum of my city....in Brazil! o.O
It's the Museum of Contemporany Art (MAC)!
Never expected to see it in a ad like this!
“Rated E for Everyone”
Man, TV was the shit before CZcams became mainstream.
Friday the 13th of April 2029: Dawn of the first day. 2556 days remain.
Rated E for Everyone Dies
This game was the Taxi Driver of video games.
I agree, the angle on the old man's face is quite epic
I freakin loved the AR game that they had set up for this game. Nintendo set it up a story to were Termina, Hyrule, and Earth are connected and if the moon crashes in Termina, it'll crash in Hyrule and Earth, too. So, they set up a contest to find a kid to control Link to save all three worlds. The kid in the commercial is the one who won the contest, if I remember correctly.
lol i found that funny
you watch the commircal then they say (rated E for everyone) its just like " after a add like that you say its rated E it just came out no where" xD
Its worse when you realize that the moon crashing sequence is playing on the screen near the end.
i wish that game ads were this awesome nowadays
Hmmm soo I played this game when it first came out before Y2K.. World was saved...2011 I beat it again before 2012,...I think it is time for me to dust off my N64 controller start a new file again and play again, you all can thank me when it's over...I GOT THIS 😎
Especially now that WW3 is very possible. You gotta do it.
even the ad for the game is fucking creepy. Majoras Mask the creepiest, darkest installment in the zelda series fosure.
this commercial started it all for me...
I would love a straight up remake. Or a squeal. With upgraded graphics or with the old. If I knew how to make a video game I would and it would be amazing. I have an idea for a Zelda game.
Zelda The Search For Link
The squeal to Twilight Princess and I had thought about the idea ten years ago.
Nintendo did NOT fuck around with it's ads back in the day.
Nintendo commercials in the 90's are weird
0:45 Old Man Marley from Home Alone? XD
Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time are masterpieces, even their commercials. Although I was too little in that time for having an N64, I have played both games in emulator. I can't choose between both because I really like both.
*sigh* they don't make commercials like they did back in my day
Who knew that one day, watching someone play would be a CZcams thing!
SOMEONE PLAY THE DAMN SONG OF TIME.
Majora's mask is my favorite Zelda game ever.
Much like Radio Zelda, commercials like this would never be put on. Especially for a Nintendo game.
We have the best commercials ever.
This is definitly the darkest of the zelda series
This game was confusing as hell the first time I played it. Finally beat it though.......3 months later...
An EPIC commercial for an EPIC game. Makes sense, right?
Anyways, this commercial is pretty freaky. Reminds me of the end of the world.
The commercial has such a huge Dark Souls vibe. MM is the best Zelda game in my opinion.
When I was younger I had night mares about that freaking mask those huge eyes look like their looking into your soul
OMG....... The Camera Angle On The Old Guys Face Is Amazing!
Mr. Plow.
I loved Majora's Mask because it was so different from other zelda games. Unlike almost all of them you could genuinly lose in the game.
now THAT's a video game commercial! :P
sure because apocalypse due to the moon flattening you is REALLY kid friendly.
I love how it says at the end "rated E for everyone".
their add for original ocarina of time was: "will thou flee or fight? will thou finish or die trying? and in the end, will thou get the girl or play like one?" seriously, that's what it was
They don't make commercials like this anymore.
before 12/12/12... for the last 3 days, everyone will play this game.
The N64 commercials were the best
DAMN NINTENDO YOU SCARY
That White Horse 0:53 at always reminds me about a quote in the Bible that talks about an apocalypse and the Four Horsemen. Btw, if you must know, I am an atheist.

And the Butoh Dancers laughed
not to mention valuable
this is what its like to chew 5 gum
i dont remember this commercial, then again in 200 i was 6 years old and outside all day
they shoudve had the bell ringing till th moon falls thet wouldve made it 100000000 times more epic
THIS IS JUST FULL OF WIN
Rated E for everyone. After seeing this commercial thats kind of surprising.
uploaded on my b-day!!
