    Had one as a kid...made it hop from finger to finger, fling it in the air and catch on shoulder etc...loads of fun...on TV they would toss it between ropes, flinging it and catching it everywhere....great memories 👍

      I remember back in 1972 when I had tried that catching on the shoulder trick and having the spinning gyroscope land on top of my head. It quickly gave me a haircut, removing single long hippie kid hairs at a time, until I looked just like Kojak on TV. Got me lots of parts in school plays anyways, but I have to wear a hat in the strong sun now as an adult, and dates can be harder to come by, but I simply pretend it's just my age and talk myself out of needing a friendly dog or fish aquarium in my life. Remember those gyroscopes that went up and down on a track you worked back and forth? You don't get haircuts with those. I just learned too late was all, but I'm joking is really was all I was after! How'd I do?

    Lets say we have a spinning gyroscope. We all saw how it can keep almost perfectly horizontal if we support it at the "falling end" with a string or what so ever.
    -Now would it be possible to lean, or support a second gyro on to the first one, just like we did it with the first one?
    -Could it work if we would extend 10 or 50 gyroscopes on to each other?
    If the extension would work, we could technically make a circle formation in which every gyro leans on to the other one.
    I dont expect a lift, but it might result as a stable "zero", allowing the formation to hover..
    I could not find an experiment displaying the result.. so i thought you guys might try it ?

    • @parkersuscavage3298
      @parkersuscavage3298 Před 7 lety +9

      It would probably be possible. But you would need to get the gyros spinning faster than is easily possible .

    • @OmniNeon900
      @OmniNeon900 Před 11 měsíci

      In order for something like that to work the gyros would also have to have some sort of thing cooling it likely from the inside of the gyro itself as when things tend to spin extremely fast they start to generate heat and heat up the air around them.

    • @Vote_By_Mail
      @Vote_By_Mail Před 6 měsíci +1

      Ofc it wouldn't lift ...the string is the only thing doing any "lift" so idk wym. Extending radially would obvs just tip the first gyro--they'd both fall. Adding an opposite gyro would *level* both as they combine against the string; but once 4 or so gyros in a compass config can sufficiently keep themselves vertical, they're done--they won't start tilting inward to try to get "more vertical" ofc.
