Sandra O elevated that interview to a whole new level. This pair has created new archetypes, both together, and as singular actresses. Just brilliant.

But you can't help but still fall for her!
Sounds corny, but it really is a privilege to watch these two women work each week. I used to feel the same way watching Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black. I bet there are some teachers/coaches out there who have their students watch Killing Eve, ask whether they have any questions at the end of the episode and call it a day.
For me, Eve longs for freedom and excitement and purpose. Villanelle is looking for a plain, normal life, but still wants the money and expensive clothes. Villanelle sees a little of herself in Eve, and vice versa. Most psychopaths are narcissists, and so it's like Villanelle is falling in love with herself, but she still acknowledges that Eve is separate from herself, and wants to keep Eve to herself and get rid of any rivals. Eve just sees someone who is free from morality and fear. Eve has to wear a mask to hide who she wants to be, and yearns to be more like Villanelle, who excites her. There is an attraction though. Awesome show, brilliantly written and acted by two class acts.

It's been surprising to me that there hasn't been one because Villanelle usually takes what she wants. So the fact that she's showing restraint where Eve is concerned is quite interesting.

The relationship between these women goes beyond the normal constraints of reason. There is just a kinship, a connection, between them that simply attracts one to the other, a mutual fascination that manifests itself through fear, respect and love (to only name a few). The kind of reactions people would have to something that is foreign yet impressive.
I cannot stress enough how critical the chemistry between Sandra and Jodie is to properly convey the complexity of this relationship to the audience. When the series will end, that will turn into an absolute tear fest.
Ooooh, wish I hadn't watched that, I've been avoiding every single teaser so I'll be as surprised as I can, but then now I know that the episode will have blood at the end and that they'll have a moment :/ spoilers

She is saying that at all... or pretending. She is saying their relationship is way more than just a normal romantic relationship. If we label it as a romantic relationship it will lose all other aspects of their relationship and turn it into a boring-can-find-in-any-show-romantic relationship. That is what she means and I can't agree with her more. What Eve and Niko had... that was a romantic relationship... but you don't wanna know more about it do you? why? because its normal and it's boring. We are all obsessed with Eve's and V's relationship for a reason.

Sandra Oh, so miscast, age 46, portrays, frumpy, boring, house wife, married, overly dramatic, Asian American & works for British Intelligence ? Versus Villanelle, age 26, beautiful, smart, complex, high fashion, adventurous, chameleon, thrill seeker, her choice of any man or woman & somehow, in LOVE with Eve to the point of risking her life in prison or even death ? Without Jody Comer's performances, who is fantastic, this show would have been canceled week one ?
@@majortom4658 oh you can't be more wrong if you ask me. Eve as you described her is what is making Villanelle even more fun... Because it's not a typical choice, many would wonder what V sees in Eve and that is exactly why it works. It makes it an even more twisted obsession, V is someone who always chooses authority figures... like Ana her teacher.. now Eve, a cop who is trying to catch her. It's all about making these authority figures surrender to her, it gives her power and feeds her narcissism. It fits perfectly with who she is. They are the total opposite, yet so similar in so many ways. Eve has normal but wants to be free of morality and V is free of morality but yearns for normal. I wouldn't say V is in love with Eve, I believe she doesn't even understands what love is, she just wants to see Eve surrender to her and then it's very possible that she may lose interest in her. (although I doubt they will do that on the show) But also V is fascinated by this other side that Eve has but has been hiding for her whole life, this dark side she has never let herself explore and V wants to open that side of Eve completely and turn her into someone like her.
@Tiana, Very interesting but I just don't think Villanelle would find Eve as interesting or as complicated as you make her out to be, given her superior intelligence & excitement for fun & adventure ? I know I don't .
@@TianaT4 SO AND JC are a duo, there acting is superb together and apart. I hate that some like to disrespect SO, like it helps jodie or something. No need to bash SO to compliment Jodie. I love both.
@@majortom4658 That's the thing, she is not complicated, nor interesting, but that's exactly why Villanelle likes her... she is normal, and V craves normal. Plus Eve knows every part of Villanelle and still sticks around and since V is convinced that no one else would accept her for what she is, that makes Eve special to her, and that's enough. Obviously V only wants someone to know her completely and accept her for what she is and Eve is doing just that.
