@@minsookim13 I wouldn't even consider Dominguez for this year, but that's just me. Let bro chill for a little while in the minors and he'll be even better than the glimpse that we saw last year. Dominguez has more talent than Dugie, but Dugie has been too good to mess with that this year. Also, we might need to go to a six-man rotation if all the starters stay healthy. It will take some of the stress of Gil and everyone else. Imagine: Cole, Gil, Rodon, Schmidt, Cortes, Stroman. Then we have Poteet hanging out for long relief, or for the rotation if somebody gets hurt. It is clear that Cashman made a point of creating depth. My God we are in great shape!
Verdugo had a night. Not only did he have an amazing performance, but he also quieted the boos from his old team and flexed on the haters.
When he hit that homerun, it looked like he was talking shit to the Boston fans while running the bases lol
They deserved it. The Sox *traded* Verdugo (the Yanks gave the a few useless pitchers). It's not like he walked away from his buddies to get more money, or anything like that.
Caleb ferguson was absolutely DOMINATE today. If he can be more consistent he can be a weapon out of the bullpen

Absolutely. I have no confidence in Holmes anymore. If we are looking for post season success we need a dependable closer. Perhaps Ferguson could be that dominating 9th inning guy.

Verdugo hot month continues. Last 15 games batting .283, at least 1 hit in 10 of his 13 games this month, 5 of those games were multi hit. Not to mention 12RBI and 5XBH. This man has been solid since day one in Pinstripes. If he's stays healthy he's well on his way in career highs in BA, HR and RBI. Thanks BOS for trading him to us and he's been one of the more underrated trades we've made in a while.
I still can't believe Boston actually traded him to us when they could've easily sent him to a West Coast team like the Padres or Diamondbacks. Amazing stuff 😅

Verdugo is not even close to being on pace for a career high in BA. He's hitting .266. His career high is .294. And that's not even counting the pandemic year where he hit .308. The other categories, yes. But not BA.
@@jakes3799 Strikes out quite a bit, and doesn't walk enough. Slugging percentage isn't great either. Hopefully this series and his new lineup position will ignite his hitting.

I said it before and I will say it again, this rivalry is dead. It hasn't been a rivalry in years. The only people who think that there is one are people who remember the late 90's and the 00's. But times have changed. All of those players are retired and so is the rivalry.

He may not be the GM (right now) but he's a lifelong Sox fan and I think he'll get them turned around. It may be muted for now, but it will come back. Look, this year is the only real time that this version of the New York Yankees has a shot at the title. After this, it's all over. So, if the Sox turn it around, it will be too late. The Yankees will be mediocre and they will be just another MLB team. Just like the Tigers or the A's. The games between the Sox and Yanks will be a ho hum, who cares for a very long time.
BTW, just to put things in perspective, they used to battle to see who was making the World Series. We may never see that again.

All I have heard is they’re looking to replace Vertugo. The media and fans bring up different players. I just don’t understand why. He plays a good left field and has had some big hits for us so far. Produced when needed. He’s a good player. I guess they’re bored because overall he has been a positive for this team.

Its bittersweet when Verdugo pops off, hes gone next year 90% chance. That being said - if we can keep him on the team. Rizzo decides to step down after we win a ring. Stanton decides to step down after we win a ring. Gives the team a ton of breathing room and we can re-evaluate bench. Who knows, I feel like that gives us the best shot at a back to back ring. I don't know.

Verdugo is heating up big time
Yankee brass needs to find a way to keep this outfield trio together. Verdugo may not put up the superstar stats of Judge & Soto, but he does everything on the field very well, he's got confidence & a healthy dose of swagger, he makes solid contact more often than not, and so far he produces in big situations. I know he had problems in Boston, accused of poor baserunning and showing up late. Bosox may have figured that he was too much of a risk to commit to a long term contract, so now he's got his opportunity in Pinstripes.

@@knighterrant5772 Yes, that's gonna require a lot of decision-making that impacts the entire team, as good as they are right now. I love Rizzo, but he'll be 35 in August and showing signs of a slowing bat and productivity decline. Is there a case for Martian in CF, Judge in RF, Soto to LF, and Verdugo at 1B? Could that even be feasible? Or, do you trade Verdugo, put your faith in Martian, and shore up 3B? Thankfully, I'm in no position to make ANY decisions, and as a 57 year Yankees fan, I'm really enjoying the ride here in '24.
