The 7 Steps for Surface Finishing are my own approach to adding texture to the layout surface. By adding an initial layer of PVA Glue as a base you avoid the need for Isopropyl Alcohol Spray. This approach takes practice and patience to perfect.
You can also sweep loose material in after adding the dilute PVA glue and then really gently compact again. This takes practice and may not be required.
Painting the Cork Track Bed gives you the flexibility to remove or replace Track or Points at any time without hassle. If you Add Ballast between the sleepers, then this is a much messier and harder process as the track is locked in place. Painting the Cork was an experiment that I feel has been quite successful.

A nice little video. I am not so much interested in the scenery but in the laying of tracks and the electronics of the layout... but this is quite informative for those that are doing this.
Thanks Tim.
We all have different ideas of what we call an ideal layout. We are all different so prefer different outcomes.
Glad you found the video if interest.
Happy Modelling
Hi Mon.
Brilliant vlog as usual buddy.
Love the outside lighting just started doing that on my buildings.
Your ballast looks a lot neater than mine. Not one of my favourite jobs.😒
Thanks Mon.
