In England we tend to make 'eggy bread' more often than 'French toast' and it is a simpler recipe for first --time cooks:
    Ingredients
    1 large free-range egg
    ½ tbsp milk
    vegetable oil
2 thick slices of bread, halved
salt and freshly ground black pepper
tomato ketchup or brown sauce, to serve
    Recipe tips
    Method
Beat together the egg, milk and a generous amount of salt and pepper in a shallow bowl.
Heat enough oil to just cover the bottom of a large frying pan over a medium heat. When the oil starts to shimmer, dip the bread into the egg mixture and add it to the pan. Cook for 5 minutes on each side, or until golden-brown.
Serve with tomato ketchup or brown sauce.

Wow I'm a new subscriber and I'm enjoying your videos. I'm a single mom of an almost 9 year old autism daughter. Just bought an Instant Pot and now she wants me to teach her to cook or at least help me. I went to get a bowl of spaghetti and I noticed the whole jar of parmesan cheese was empty. Have on stove and half in the pot with the spaghetti lol. You're a great dad!

My mother grew up hungry. She was born in Germany in 1941 during the war. She told me her story many times about how people in her own family turned her away. But the family who lived below her apartment had 10 children always shared their potatoes with her.She said that cold potato with a little salt tasted like meat. I miss my mom and her stories. Because both my parents grew up in poverty, their greatest joy was to make sure me and my brother and sister had enough to eat.
