    Brilliant advice again. I'm going to do loads of reps of these drills in the garden tomorrow 😁👍.

    Jonathan, Thank you for this video and all your others. I know the content very much applies to me with lack of relationship left elbow to left rib cage (Left handed golfer). Also your comments on amateurs like me not practicing properly is also me, with my habit being hit as many balls as possible and hope some will be ok? I have practiced with out self .discipline.
    BUT am now determined to adopt more structure so I have for probably the first time in 25 years of golf today taken your guidance of ONLY hitting balls at driving range with your drills. Some questions arising from today:
    1. I only used 8 and 9 irons today with inflatable ball between the forearms, is this correct. Or should I be going through the bag.
    2. I had some success with retaining the training ball not dropping out on half swings of 50 to 70 yards, but on full swings was less successful Is this to be expected.
    I am determined to maintain this new trining self discipline and Thank You for telling me what I needed to hear. Roger.

    Great as always. My feel is try and hit the golf ball with my right elbow.

    Yeah for the life of me I'm still too steep. I locked my left arm in the takeaway and had some solid flights. But still I was steep. I'll try the numb chuck drill tmrw and make a tour strike ball. This is forever challenging and maybe shouldn't be?

      If it’s really difficult that’s a good sign. No specific movement ever easily clicks into place. Hit every ball doing a specific drill at the range for 6 months, then you’ll be close 👍🏼

    question , would you be better served by diping your right shoulder and trying to get the right shoulder under your left shoulder (more of feel) .

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  Před 2 lety +1

      Definitely not. Dropping the trail shoulder early will cause huge low point issues and a stall out in rotation

      @@jchowngolf thank you yes I see that if I do what I said , although I flatten the swing I have very little power on the strike . So is the only answer to bring the club from the inside. My issue with that is that I seem to hit a hook

    Two things...... I STRUGGLE MIGHTLY with the right elbow pointing backwards in the Backswing possibly as a result of RA. I can't really Externally Rotate whatsoever. I've seen it suggested that to make up for that I should be massively rotating the forearms counterclockwise on the backswing. One other thing........ at close to 300# I'm not sure getting the right arm in front of the right hip is an option. I know there have been overweight golfers who have been good ball strikers. As a result of the above I tend to "chop wood" followed by standing up almost bolt upright and slapping at the ball. When I was hitting hundreds of balls a week my timing was good and it was OK. Now, 10s of thousands of balls later I just can't stop this pattern. Please Help! I've literally taken a week off work to work on this. Today, day one, was useless with Zero Improvement.

    Good video, hey I was wondering why the majority of people find golf so frustratingly hard, I watched probably a hundred or more videos but no one addressed this basic question. Why if you can instinctively throw a ball can't you instinctively hit a good golf shot? It seems that anyone who's good has to be taught how to swing. Just swinging naturally will not result in any compression even from the biggest men yet a well taught young girl can compress the hell out of a golf shot. What they are doing is all about that trail elbow and body rotation as the club reaches its parallel point in the downswing and that's just not intuitive apparently. Why are there so many South Korean young small women who are great golfers but most Americans stink at twice the size and strength, what is it the South Koreans can teach girls that Americans or really any others aren't being taught is it really just get that trail shoulder internally rotated and turn through if so why isn't that on every golf bag, golf shirt and hat since it seems to be the key that opens golf to everyone. Is it some big secret only shared by pros to their paying students and everyone else gets some misdirected bs to keep em wondering what the hell is going on.

      In this case more to do with work ethic and intention rather than technique, as all top players are technically efficient

    My buddy has a really weak grip, and bringing that right shoulder over I feel is a way to compensate for a face that’s too open. Literally his first move in transition is to excessively flair his right elbow out behind him, and spin his right shoulder out. It’s painful to watch. lol
