I agree with the dual ended products and face palettes thing. I hate having a dual ended product cuz what ends up happening is I finish one side and am left with the other that I don't like. With face palettes, i'll have one shade left in a 6 pan palette and it ends up being such a pain to continue storing for the one shade.

I no longer buy gloss. I am a balm and butter kind of gal. I have a few bullet lipsticks around, but that's about it. I am minimizing my collection more and more these days.
I had to throw out half of my eyeshadow palettes. My main love. I do a smell check a couple times a year. Year 2 seems to be when things start to smell funky. Knowing that I'm trying to find my staple products that I'll happily pan. I think I also want my palettes to be 9 pans or smaller moving forward. I have 1 vanity drawer with built-in dividers. It makes storage so much easier and may help keep impulse purchases at bay.

I rarely wear bronzer, and I'm starting to think I don't need it at all. And yes to all of yours!! I have so many colorful eyeliners that rarely get used. I used to use them more, but I'm more into neutral looks now. I still get tempted and have to stop myself because they look so pretty. Not something I stopped buying but something a lot of beauty creators talk about that I don’t buy: scrubs. Lip scrubs, body scrubs, face scrubs, etc. I feel like everyone thinks it’s a necessary hygiene step now. If I feel the need to occasionally exfoliate my body, I have an exfoliating mit that I use with body wash. I can exfoliate my lips with my toothbrush or wash cloth. Also, I hate any product that requires me to dig my fingers into a tub.

My one and only top coat recommendation is Holo Taco's Glossy Taco. It's quick-dry, so no sheet imprints in your nails. Also make sure to cap the tip and underside of your nail when applying both the polish and top coat. Base coats and top coats are designed to do different things, so 2-in-1 options really aren't as effective. Hope that helps! x

My top coat recommendation is Seche Vite. I use their top and base coat but the top coat makes the biggest difference. It self levels so it makes your nails look good even if you’re not the best with painting, it dries hard super fast so you don’t smudge your nails, it looks very glossy and my nails last a week to 10 days. I’m going on 2 weeks with my current manicure and it’s just looking a little grown out and very slightly chipped at the ends but still not bad enough to take off.

Obligatory reminder that you might still want to buy some of these things because they make your life easier. For example, I'm the opposite when it comes to lip products: I only buy the transfer-proof ones because they are easier for me to maintain. I'm also neurodivergent and can't do digital calendars, they confuse me 😅

The lip product ingredient that causes throat irritation for me is lanolin and its derivatives. It also burns my lips. (I actually get burns, not just the sensation of burning.) When I get that catch in my throat using a product without lanolin, it’s usually the fragrance or the terpenes (e.g., limonene) that causes it. It took me a very long time to figure it out. I wish you luck in your endeavor.

I also very rarely buy face powder, bronzer, contour, and highlighter - I don't think I've bought any items from these categories this year. I just don't use them often enough! Hi Sarah! I'm a nail polish addict and can usually get 1-2 weeks of wear of regular polish with little to no chips. What changed the game for me was the sandwich method combined with a quick-dry top coat: so base coat (sticky base coats I've had the most success with - most brands make one), 2-3 layers of your chosen polish (depending on opacity) and quick-dry top coat. I've tried dozens of quick-dry top coats (both drugstore and indie), but my favourites are Essie Gel Setter, Essie Good to Go, and KBShimmer Clearly on Top, but I know a lot of people also enjoy Seche Vite (tho it can cause some shrinkage). Best of luck with your future nail adventures! Bytheway, loving Vlogmas so far :)

I don't buy or use bronzer/contour. I stopped like 3 years ago and I only use blush. Honestly I feel they are too hursh on my face, I don't feel cute wearing bronzers in particular. Just recently I'm thinking about trying contour again but I don't know, we'll see❤

Mooncat’s Speed Demon Top Coat is great for keeping your manicure intact. It is a quick dry polish so I do have to refresh it with rubbing alcohol (one of the big ingredients) after owning and using it weekly for the last 6 months but on top of using their polish I can get my manicure to last 10-14 days.

I no longer buy eyeliner in general because of your same reason. I ended up tossing a beautiful sea green eyepencil because it went dry and I could no longer use it. I now have a dark brown one that I like, and a black one that unfortunately is giving me puffy eyes - probably I'm allergic at something, we're on the same boat on the "what could it be?" since some mascara and pencils give me bubble eyelids.
On the paper planner: I use very happily a paper one, but I absolutely get what you mean! Some people I know did the same thing, buying a paper planner and using it just for few months and then giving up. I am very happy you found a easier, happier way to organize your days!

Hot take: the reason press-on nails last longer is because people are more ginger with them. Like you feel you have something extra atop your nails so you're more aware and generally more careful. Whereas with polish, there isn't that same sensation, so folks are more rough with their nails and hence they chip faster. But if people were with polish as careful as they are with press-ons, the polish would last similarly long.
The best top and case coats I've tried are from Holo Taco. They dry quickly and are amazing for longevity.
Other tips: wear gloves to do the dishes, be super careful with your nails in and immediately after a shower.

I really don’t need anymore makeup after this BF. I’m going on a replacement only no-buy. Things I don’t buy: Bronzer/contour products (I don’t wear them), highlighter (I’d rather use a glowy blush), eyeshadow palettes (I use singles and hate dupe shades), lipstick (gloss/balm fanatic!), nail polish (no time, my nails suck anyway), lipliner, liquid liner, trendy products, cream blush, setting powder (I just touch up with pressed midday), fake lashes. I do use press-ons occasionally. I am amused about the paper planners. I used to use them all the time and then stopped for years. I’ve tried to use my phone but I’m an old (40) and really respond better to writing things down and seeing things laid out in front of me. I don’t intend to get a fancy one, just something utilitarian. I also use pencils lol.

You can just throw a reminder in your calendar for the next day when your half asleep and don't want to think about anything and get a ping the next day to call your dentist or whatever or remind yourself to ask your friend something after work. I cannot do my job or basic logistics without it now! I also store all my friends birthdays on it, and set up a notification for 9am on all of them, so will never forget again. Try regular nail polish with gel top coat. I make my nails at home with gel nail polish from Manucurist the Green Flash and I am so happy that I try them. My gel last 10 till 14 days and sometime even more.

Same with the under eye masks! I just don’t have time to apply them before I get ready but what I do love for if I have allergies and my eyes get puffy are the reusable ones from NYX! You just put them in the freezer and can use them over and over again. Those were worth it.

    Love your channel! 🤩
I have the same thoughts as you regarding evening cleansing/wash off make-up routine. I put a small towel over the ridge of the basin to hinder water dripping all over. Thanks for the tip to use socks as cleansing cuffs!
Great inspo to cut out other products, agree on the face palettes and colourful eyeliners. Lipsticks I cannot be without, there a special little happy tingle everytime I buy a new lipstick and use it for the first time. Personally I am not that keen on lipglosses, lip balms and lip oils - too slippery.
    Have a great day. ✨️

I'm also on the hunt for a good, long wearing, quick dry top coat! I've heard the Static Nails one is good, but I haven't tried it. The struggle is so real! I've tried a bunch, and still haven't found one I really love.

The dashing diva nail glaze strips are amazing! I used to get the dip done at the nail salon. I'll never spend 50 bucks to get my nails done again. I can get 2 or 3 sets of wear out of one 15 dollar box of strips.

Under eye masks make my eyes burn too! I actually bought some Pacifica reusable/washable under eye masks that you use with your own serums. They feel nice when I need a pick-me-up and have the time. And using my own serums, I know it won't burn. Plus, less waste! :)

I love under eye masks and will never stop 😂 I use the reusable ones and disposable and they just make too big of a difference for me to stop.
I’ve been done buying lipsticks for several years but now I’m thinking I’d like to try a new liquid lip formula since I’m sure they’re less drying than they used to be.
I have one face palette (hourglass) and I love it! But I definitely don’t need another one.
I’m a total nail polish junkie and paint my nails alllll the time. The Essie gel couture top coat is the best I’ve ever used!

  • @amysmithssportsandmakeup1397

I only wear bullet lipsticks. IDk why but I always grab for those over liquid lipsticks and glosses. If I'm wearing no make up I wear a gloss and even put a little on my cheeks like a highlight. I quit buying brush sets too- I'd rather get a really nice brush that I need and will use every time even if it costs more money. I used to go get sNS nails at the salon but I absolutely dreaded going so I've decided to get a few sets of press on nails for occasions. What are the best brands? I tried Kiss and they fell off in a day. Another thing I quit buying is false lashes; can't put them on for the life of me. Even those supposedly easy ones that stick under your lash. I'll just use my ordinary lash serum and luckily my lashes aren't too bad. I do like my paper calendars; I used to buy Erin Condren but now I just go to Amazon or the Dollar tree

I also got some weird ridges in my nails, since I started wearing press-ons. I'm interested why does it happen. Are the fake nails too small and put pressure on natural nails? It's just so weird.

Please share whatever you find out about your lip allergy because I'm going through the same thing! Suddenly I'm noticing whenever I put something on my lips, even my lip balm, I start coughing and having a tickled throat. It's so bizarre because I'm using the same old products I used to. Maybe they are all contaminated from something...? As of now, I'm also taking a break from all until I can figure it out 😩.

Sorry to hear this! Have you tried wiping down your products before using? Like maybe it mixed with another product that had the allergen. You could try an elimination, just using one product exclusively for three days and see if you have a reaction. Allergies are terrible. Best of luck!

While you can pursue allergy testing, I dont think they will help you in this case and they will just tell you to discontinue wearing makeup/lip products.
Of course, please do whatever you want, it just takes forever to get an appointment and they may not test for whatever ingredient is causing you trouble.
Immunogy is a hell of a thing and really ANYTHING can be an allergen so theres that factor too.
Of course, im no expert, just an auto immune and allergy sufferer. I dont thinknallergy testing js going to be worth your time unless youre experiencing other issues.

I stopped buying nail polish, it’s actually bad for your health to be putting chemicals on your nails, it gets absorbed by your body.
