A huge mechanic in the game is that when you break a bone loudly, all the other guys wince.

Nah, I remember its main storyline basically being a clusterfuck of bad character development, people dying without you even having developed any kind of relationship to them yet, and not much of a moral to the story IIRC. The driving was pretty bad, and there were no interesting side-missions, they were all just interchangeable and generic and didn't really take any skill to beat. The combat was pretty decent though, with nice brutal attacks and a fair amount of them.

Also, Wei Shen's VA, Will Yun Lee is a Tae Kwan Do martial artist, and has voiced another Kung Fu fighter with Kung Lao, so he's pretty much perfect for the rol. Wish the studio was still around to make a sequel, game was so underrated.
Too bad Will Yun Lee is now stuck making godawful direct-to-DVD movies like that shitpile trilogy "Rogue Warfare" lmao

I still remember the first time I walked through those Asian streets and the feeling and sudden rush I had when I was chasing that guy.... this game was really good ... especially the smooth fighting mechanics was very unique.
It was smooth and flowed really well but also had a lot of weight and impact, simple combat nothing crazy but real satisfying

Sleeping Dogs got me interested in martial arts. Its the perfect game IMO
Sleeping Dogs was one of my absolute favorite games of all time. Such an underrated game. I’d love to see a sequel maybe based on another character in another country.

An online sleeping Dogs (akin to GTA Online) set in China was in the works, but I don't know what ever happened to that. I'm pretty sure it was in a playable

Fantastic game, its actually sequal to true crime series, and was having a sleeping dogs 2 worked on i beleive. Than it bombed and 2 was thrown out the window! Actually just beat this a few months back for the god only knows how many times lol
Sleeping Dogs is one of the games that I feel really satisfied when punching and kicking people. Another game that I remember is Mad Max.
Definitely, Mad Max has such hard hitting and gritty combat, it's not very stylistic but when you land a heavy blow it feels great

I have just finished the definitive edition. I loved it back when the original came out and loved it again this time around. This game deserved a lot more attention and definitely needs a sequel/prequel.

This was hell of a game.. Played many times. most amazing things was you have various finishing moves you can combine and make the fight interesting.
Sleeping Dogs really learned from Yakuza, those moves Wei pulled were PAINFUL
I think SD is more brutal. And fighting is more like martial art than Yakuza, but Yakuza is another kind of fun.

i have played this game over five times and have never noticed that the fighting style changes. i always make sure i am wearing the suit with 50% more shooting accuracy so thats probably why. i learn something new about this game through every play and its so awesome. great video

Sleeping Dogs is a renamed True Crime: Hong Kong so the sequel to it would be a new True Crime game with a new character and set in a different place.

I'm a martial artist and the truth is any real self defense martial art will teach you to use the environment anyway you can so that you stay alive, if you have 5 killers around you, you shouldn't even think twice about doing this

I love how Sleeping Dog uses MMA, Wing Chun and more, so they got Donnie Yen to play in the movie. Couldn’t have wished a better actor for the role.
French Screwdriver there isn’t yet, but it’s coming.
@French Screwdriver the movie production is in limbo. Yen will be 57 this end July and if he wants to play Wei Shen probably aged 20-30s he should be quick to make that movie.

Sleeping dogs is one of my favorite and most played games I own. Im glad its getting some recognition 8 years after its initial release. Whoever was playing the game though while they were critiquing the fighting style didn't even use all the moves wei has. And you didn't even highlight the drunken master style when you equip the outfit. Hands down my favorite fighting style in game

This isn't 100% true.
While there are outfits in the game that unlock certain moves, the base fighting style is always the same. Certain story dlcs change it up to be more appropriate etc.
Wei can beat a dude's head in with a car door regardless of what he is wearing.
Sleeping Dogs is in my top 5 games of all time. The fighting is simple and satisfying. RPG elements are on point.

Square Enix did a survey recently where they asked if we want to see more remakes. Screw that (well, I DO want a Parasite Eve or Xenogears remake, but oh well). Give us a Sleeping Dogs sequel please. Yes, the studio behind the game doesn't exist anymore, but the IP belongs to Square Enix. I'd prefer that over yet another awful Tomb Raider sequel.

Sleeping dogs was the first sandbox game of it's type that I beat. I did every quest, and the story was also good. The combat was incredibly fun.

Sleeping Dogs is a highly underrated game. Everything about it was great, from the combat system, to the world and environment, to the story with the undercover cop angle. It would be cool if they made a sequel.
