Jim was such a big artist when I was a young adult and we were all really shocked when he died in a plane crash. This song was one of my favorites, it's so catchy and tells a simple but relatable underdog story. And of course, Geoff gives it his fantastic signature treatment.
    Thanks and take care, Superstar.

Seriously, you do need to check out Jim Croce (and his son A. J., who is just as talented as his father).
Even though they were written in the 70s, they are still relevant (and still can pack a punch).

2:36 Slide into an *E1 chest* (his official lowest)
    3:06 *G1 chest*
3:09 *E1 subharmonic* (possibly his best subharmonic)

When I was a kid, riding around in the back seat of my parents' car, this was one of the songs that I remember playing on the radio. As a kid I had weird opinions about some music, but this was one song I always enjoyed. Jim Croce was a great storyteller, but with all respect to him, he doesn't have anything on Geoff. Geoff is always listening to the text of the song, as well as what the original music is conveying, and then he retells the story with a whole new, modern spin on it. Not only that, he has all the performative experience he earned at the Disney parks to assist in his ability to tell his story. The man's toolbox is truly impressive!

Jim Croce songs were stories. This one is from 1972.

I love the "anti-bullying" message of this song. I love how the lyrics changed from Jim to Slim. Sounds like Bossman Jim met someone who wouldn't put up with his bullying BS. A bully only wins if you let them. Slim didn't.

Great reaction! I love to see you take in and really feel the story of a song. I cannot sit still when enjoying good music and enjoy others sway and rock out, too ❤
Yes, I’m also looking forward to the new Nightwish album and your reactions. I’m so eager to hear what Tuomas and the band have created for us all ❤

My father loved this song, so I grew up with him playing a record of Jim Croce songs. I love that Geoff is pulling back into the light these songs that he heard from his parents or even grandparents and sharing them for audiences today.

I like that he kept it simple, easier to focus on the story that way. Absolutely react to the new nightwish!!!

Jim Croce was in the music biz for a number of years but didn't get well known till the last 2 or 3 years of his life. Jim was planing to get out after being mucked around to meany times but needed to do some shows before he got out for good but that last show on Sept. 20 1973 his plane clipped some trees just after takeoff and crashed killing everyone onboard. If you don't know his work you really should check him out he had a lot of great songs.

Jim Croce is known as one of the best folksingers. Some of his songs are like this one, or Big Bad Leroy Brown, Working at the Car Wash Blues, and then you get the beauties, Time in a Bottle, Operator, I Got A Name, Photographs and Memories. I would love for Geoff or VoicePlay to do any of these. Jim's first album was in 1966 and his last was in 1973 when he and his group were flying and the pilot had a heart attack and they were killed. His son will often play his dad's music on stage and I am delighted that Geoff did this one so very well, and looked so darn good. Wish I could get my arms to look like that. I suspect that at 73 that ain't happening.

DO go listen to Jim Croce’s music. He died way too soon, but not before leaving us rough and tumble classics like this one and “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” but beautiful ballads like “Operator,” “Time in a Bottle,” and “I’ll Have to Say I Love You in a Song.” Plus some funny stuff such as “Roller Derby Queen” and “Workin’ at the Car-Wash Blues.” A really unique voice, and I think you in particular would really appreciate him. I’d like to see your reactions as you discover his work!
